Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift engaged!

I think a little celebrity political activism goes a long way. I like it when celebrities help spread the word and obviously donate. But does anyone really want Taylor Swift constantly opining on abortion rights? No none of us want that. You’re just looking for ways to criticize her. She donates a crap ton of her earnings to communities and she does speak up at times. The more she speaks, the more diluted her message would be. It was really big news when she came out and endorsed Harris. If she was constantly talking about women’s rights, it would just get lost in the sauce.

Also, there’s a lot of complaining that people who aren’t into her feel like she is forced onto them. Do we really want more Taylor in our lives? I mean, I love her… But I like that she’s been laying low in the last few years other than touring.

Besides, Tay wants to be Elizabeth Taylor so badly. She sang about it on Reputation and is back to that a decade later, on her new album.

I don’t think aspiring to be like Stevie and Lindsey is remotely in Taylor’s plans less you’re confirming that she and Matty will be distant forever.

Except they’re baaaaaaack! The love they had is still there.

Buckingham Nicks comes out in Sept.

Celebs can absolutely be monumental for political activism. Even Taylor has been given credit for getting people out to vote.

But not every celeb lives and breathes activism. Not everyone can be Mohammed Ali.

Politics is also more than red vs blue. Taylor has fundamentally helped to reshape the politics of the music industry; revealing and challenging time and time again who has the ultimate power and what does that mean?

I’m glad they are happy, but he really just seems like a douche. You’d think she’d pick better.

Taylor backs herself into a corner with the criticism on her politics, her private life, etc. Her entire career is built on letting fans into her life and making them feel like they *know* her. She's cultivated this relationship.

Well, when people feel like they know you, like they are in a relationship with you, they can also feel betrayed, disappointed, and angry. It's a double edged sword. If she wants fans to be excited and thrilled for her when they see her engagement photos, she can't be surprised when they are angry and frustrated when she's silent on Trump or seen celebrating Brittney Mahomes birthday.

But she's always found a way to navigate it before, so who knows. She's definitely among the best in terms of manipulating public sentiment in her favor.

Pick better how? Name me someone in those spheres who isn’t a douche?

She has made it worse for upcoming artists to get a fair deal.

“In response to Swift’s success in her re-recording project, major record label companies are overhauling recording contracts for new artists.54 The labels want to ensure that artists are maintaining exclusivity with them and are preventing artists from competing with the record label by re-recording. Labels such as Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Group are stipulating that artists must wait anywhere from ten to thirty years after their original contract ends to re-record their music.55 Gandhar Savur, an entertainment attorney, reported that he recently “did a deal with a very big indie [artist] that had a 30-year re-record restriction.”56”

+1 this is how she got fans to buy Taylor versions to help fight the patriarchy. Her dad and law team will come to the rescue!

Oooh. Thanks for sharing. Okay her activism is a little narrow then. Mostly all about her.

I’m not seeing a lot of disappointing fans. She hasn’t lost followers and she continues to get a lot of positive attention when she announces things like an engagement or new album. The critics are the same people who are gonna hate her no matter what. If she spoke out, they’d criticize her for that too.

Anyone in the public eye is going to get hate and love. It just comes with the territory.

I personally know a few NFL and MLB players and they’re just normal boring people.

It was recorded 50 years ago and has been remastered. It’s not something they just recorded. They are not currently on good terms with each other.

She compared herself to Stevie on TTPD, discussed her Matty obsession with her and included a poem/letter by Stevie about that in the prologue. She also compares herself to Liz Taylor. Both of these women are cultural icons but also known for their tumultuous, passionate, scandalous relationships.

Joe Alwyn seemed like the best one. And I believe was the one that lasted the longest.
