Especially when you consider the P Diddy thread is only 36 pages and was started all the way back in December.

I guess it's a good thing that Diddy only beat a woman and didn't tell her how great being a wife and mother is.

P Diddy isn't participating in our current cultural wars by doling out RW talking points cloaked as life advice.

Interesting. Because, neither is Butker.
He is simply praising and commending those who choose to have children and raise children - BOTH men and women.
I guess you are not a fan of childrearing.

I guess the butlicker kicker is not a fan of child rearing or family life since he has a job that pulls him away from family life August - February.

I guess you didn’t bother to listen:

To the gentlemen here today: Part of what plagues our society is this lie that has been told to you that men are not necessary in the home or in our communities. As men, we set the tone of the culture, and when that is absent, disorder, dysfunction, and chaos set in. This absence of men in the home is what plays a large role in the violence we see all around the nation. Other countries do not have nearly the same absentee father rates as we find here in the U.S., and a correlation could be made in their drastically lower violence rates, as well.

Actually I have read the speech many times

This is the most alarming part, he is right, dads need to be more present. There should not be pressure on men to have jobs that take them away from their family for hours/weeks/months essentially leaving moms to raise their kids alone.

This is one reason often 2 parents working in a normal family is ideal.

Also, he says 'absent men" play a large role in violence....yet he is never home! He has chosen a career where he will never be with his kids on the weekends when families should come together. He will rarely coach his kids football team, or go to mass with them on Sunday morning, or get donuts after mass.

He is an absent father.

So it’s never okay to be employed by the NFL or only if your spouse works?

No in my book it’s fine if it’s good for your family, but according to the speech we are discussing here Its not okay to be an absent parent. Its also not okay (according to the speech) to use NFP, IVF, be friends with your congregation, have a life before your H, etc.. lots of crazy notions to many to tackle at once.

I’m simply responding to the person who posted “a father at home raising kids stops violence “…. And he’s not a father at home with his kids.

The chargers drop a video to announce schedule and at 2:15… announcing playing against Chiefs it’s Kicker buttlicker trying to bake a pie and burning down the house.

Nope just applying his own words to him. A man who has children needs to parent and be IN THE HOME, the absent man leads to violence… you apparently haven’t heard or read the whole speech.

NP here - This is EXACTLY what is wrong with his logic. He's suggesting that women should only be of one single minded focus: mom & wife. While as a man, he's suggesting that they CAN be employed. Let's face it - one person has to either pull down big numbers in order for the second not to have to work. He's suggesting that a man can have a career and a woman should not (OK - a career as a mom and wife only). So he is suggesting that there should never be a choice for a woman to have a career as anything but a mom&wife this the quote: "her (wife) life started" when she became a mom and wife. And that is everything wrong with his speech.

At the same time, he's insulting all the dads (except himself) who, because they are never around while working their hot jobs, to support the home front. He is totally illogical in his thinking, insulting to both men and women in his beliefs and I find him to be the worst kind of person in that he is a hypocrite preaching to others to be one as well.

The highest calling in life is slaving away in a cubicle.

At the end of your life, you will regret not having spent more time at work.

That may be true but it's a completely different belief than what that idiot is saying. Nobody is suggestion it's a hard balance and family should more often come first for sure. However, that is not the same as saying a woman's job is only devotion to family or something like that.. aka only be a wife and mother. That's this fools only premise - what he said was so offensive to me even - a woman who is also a wife and a mother!

Just a gentle reminder that it was Harrison Butker's mother's career as an Emory University physicist that provided Harrison Butker with the wealth and privilege to tell women that their greatest goal in life should be staying home and raising children.
