No one ever said that doing the right thing is easy. By the time the council has its hearing McKnight's firing will be public and the conversation will have cooled down a lot. I hope the council doesn't let the board off the hook. MCPS follows very few of its policies on sexual harassment or sexual assault, and it never has. Many of these board members have presided over multiple scandals. There's no excuse for it. |
Sorry, mean to say *sued* for violating personnel/HR law. |
Hopefully, the BOE will complete Dr. McKnight's work with the school district before the February 8th meeting. |
I have no faith that will happen under this BOE |
Some of the BOE and McKnight so tight. Recall when they were eager to get McKnight in as Super when most other groups were not in favor? Can't remember exactly which ones. |
They may have been tight once upon a time, but a majority of time voted to ask her to resign. So the honeymoon is over. |
It would have been Wolf at the time she was president. And maybe two others that are no longer on the board. McKnight does not have any long term central office experience. I am not sure why she was promoted. |
+1. Wolffe was her biggest supporter, but I don't trust any of the legacy board members anymore, since they all went along for the ride. I was always puzzled by McKnight's selection. I think her degree was from a small-time college with poor academics, although it was historically black? I can't believe she was the most qualified black candidate that MCPS could recruit? It seemed strange at the time. |
Wolff is still on there, and there is no way she's okay with the Board's move. But it sounds like there is majority support for getting rid of her regardless of where Wolff is. |
Well, it's not like any sane person would want this job. They have to deal with all the insane Karens trying to get them fired just because they don't support whatever wacky cause they are pushing this week. |
+1 to the comment before yours about avoiding HR/personnel issues. When school boards are in this situation, it’s a “resign or be fired” type of thing. They had the closed session about legal advice at the last general meeting, I’d be surprised if they didn’t have one at the next meeting, and they’ve taken down these 4 pictures on her public biography page where she’s interacting with different subgroups. They’re going to fire her sooner rather than later and they’re probably looking at a separation agreement as we speak, because this is such a distraction. |
So do we think she’ll take the settlement, which I suspect is a pretty penny, or do we think she will choose to get fired so she can say what she wants and sue MCPS? I’m suspecting the former since she’s been mum for a while. I suppose we’ll know before the council meeting. She seems wholly unaware of the havoc she has wreaked on the system, so she may go down fighting. I don’t know who she listens to, but someone should help her understand the situation and her limited options |
No settlement. MCPS makes rape victims sue. Let her litigate her wrongful termination so MCPS can get all the facts out there in its reply brief. Nothing wrong with a little equity for all who think they’ve been wronged by MCPS. The only way a settlement may be worth it is if she admits to her own poor performance and misconduct in a public statement and agrees to let her name be released in the Jackson Lewis report. Otherwise, let her sue. |
My guess is the reason why she went on TV is to say "if you go down, I'm squealing." If that's the case, she's a liability to whomever was backing her.
I saw the million dollar bocce ball videos. Someone made out like a bandit in my opinion. It was supposed to pay for "bocce ball courts" for all the Middle Schools, "uniforms", "referees" etc. The "uniforms" were t-shirts, the "bocce ball courts" were just PVC pipes laid out in the gym (since you can't play in the winter and the floor needs to be flat to accommodate special needs), and the "referees" looked like a few staff. |
The contract provides one-year's severance if she's terminated. She doesn't get anything if she resigns. |
