Board wants Monifa to step down

Anonymous
MCPS/BOE is all about DEI and hiring nonwhite people. There are several board members who are black women. This is not about race.

It's about incompetence, favoritism, and the lack of trust.

She's got too much baggage now and has lost the confidence of the people she is supposed to lead.

Beidleman partied with Smondrowski alot.

That’s not true! It was A LOT!

They assume (now we know wrongly) that the professional staff are doing their due diligence. Their employee is the super. She is the “buck stops here” for other employment decisions.

Should the board have been aware of the various issues and held the super accountable? Yes. But don’t think that they actually get the whole truth all the time.

BUt it's still their responsibility to vet. I mean, Board member!

No, it isn't. They're part-timers. There is a whole staff at central office in HR and OSSWB who have FT jobs to do all the vetting.

I don't have any issues withMcKnight being gone. But it's not okay for the BOE to be off the hook either.

There are 2, no? As in, not enough to stop the BOE from taking this action.

NAACP enters the chat.

Here’s my issue with making this a race issue. There was clear mismanagement, clear cronyism, clear malfeasance.

Should we be letting the leader off the hook because of their race? Isn’t that saying “well because of their race they just couldn’t do better?”

Same with Beidleman: should we let him off the hook because of race? It’s honestly more racist to not act in a case like this

Same consequence for the same offense. Which is not being seen with mcps. I hope the NAACP takes down this whole scam.

They aren’t going to pick Brian Hull because Khalid Walker named him and he’s too close to the current scandal.

They will bring in someone from the outside—probably someone who worked for MCPS before but left to grow their career. There are a lot of possibilities so it will depend who is available and willing.

This would be a poor move. What you describe is McKnight’s career! They need an outsider, African American female flag officer at this point to change the culture. Someone of the caliber like Adm Howard (Ret)

Actually McKnight partied with Joel a lot at various sorority/fraternity events and has for years.

Did they all party together?

Knowing Beidleman's reputation, they were orgies!

Not qualified, this is a school system not the military. You have to hold a superintendent certification which requires experience as an educator.

Hearing word on the street that Darryl Williams is in play for the interim spot.

Oh, so everything is racist, even when the person is clearly incompetent and lies, it's racist to fire such a person.

And are the 2 black BOE members on Monifa's side because of her race? This is like voting for someone purely on their race.

Stop making this about race. It's about incompetence and lack of leadership.

This is so silly lol

For all you people making this about race, all you are saying is that we should tolerate incompetence and corruption from black people, ie, lower the bar for them.
