She seems wholly unaware of the havoc she has wreaked on the system, so she may go down fighting. I don’t know who she listens to, but someone should help her understand the situation and her limited options

The contract provides one-year's severance if she's terminated. She doesn't get anything if she resigns.

She should force their hand. It's worth a year's pay.

But they can also negotiate a resign plus payout

+1 to the comment before yours about avoiding HR/personnel issues. When school boards are in this situation, it’s a “resign or be fired” type of thing. They had the closed session about legal advice at the last general meeting, I’d be surprised if they didn’t have one at the next meeting, and they’ve taken down these 4 pictures on her public biography page where she’s interacting with different subgroups. They’re going to fire her sooner rather than later and they’re probably looking at a separation agreement as we speak, because this is such a distraction.

I so hope you are right.

She’s only entitled to the severance if a judge determines that MCPS breached the contract in a material way. Firing her for cause isn’t a material breach. It’s a shame she’s using reputable people just to get a payout.

She should sue the people who have had it out for her from day 1. She inherited the Biedleman mess and has done a decent job. People are just looking for a scapegoat.

You do realize that if she sues MCPS will be free to disclose all of the derogatory information about her, right? That’s going to make it rough for her and make the people who supported her look pretty foolish.

You do realize in that disclosure there will undoubtedly be unfavorable things about the district, its policies, procedures and practices or lack thereof that will make the district look bad. And that affects things like recruitment and retention. Not to mention potentially provided way for additional lawsuits.

I’m not sure what this has to do with litigation but suing MCPS might make her too toxic for Discovery Education.

Retention is non-existent. Staff at all levels gave been leaving in droves over the past 2 years. We thought the exodus during the pandemic was bad. It's so mich worse post pandemic due to what is going on.

You know who was responsible for implementing policy and procedure as a matter of state law? The superintendent! So if you have no doubt that findings on policies, procedures, and practices were lacking, then you agree that there’s cause for terminating the superintendent.
