She was also not at the Diana statue unveiling. Maybe pass that because it’s public but why wouldn’t you be with your husband with his grandmother dying? Sophie and Camilla were there.

Because the Queen was already dead and they had just dropped the children off for the first day of school. She needed to be there to pick them up and be with them for all of the stuff that is about to follow. With the exception of William and Harry - who were/were now about to be the children of a King — no other grandchildren or great-grandchildren were there. It’s not nefarious - this is part of a very-long planned out national event which it sounds like moved very quickly and didn’t have as much notice as people had presumed would happen.

Sophie and Edward also have minor children. If they were already dropped off that makes even less sense as seems super easy to have Nanny Maria pick them up. It’s not like his grandmother dies every day seems kind of unhealthy to decline to be supportive for even one day for a school run. Either she didn’t care to go or he didn’t want her there.

Prince Edward is her actual child. William is her grandchild. His kids are her great grandchildren. So big difference.

I heard on the news that her children had gathered near at the end. Not the entire family.

It does not seem odd for a granddaughter-in-law to not show up at the bedside. What is a little odd is for the second son of the future king to not be able to travel to Scotland on the same military jet his brother took. Does it have to do with Harry not being able to use public resources? They couldn't stop being paranoid about whether he would share details about the experience or what people would say in his memoir? Harry should have been treated as an equal to William by his father in this particular private situation.

Harry is not William’s equal. He is the spare; not the heir. At least Archie will get the Prince title Meghan was jonesing for

She can re-do his room in Little Prince decor.

It's not automatic. Archie was born before Charles was King. For Archie to become a prince as a grandchild of the regent. King Charles would have to issue letters patent, which he is unlikely to do.

If Meghan has a third kid, woukd it automatically become a Prince or Princess?

Thank you

Yes

Now that they’re grandchildren of the King, Archie and Lillibet are automatically granted the prince/princess title. Please google it. Their parents may choose for them to use these titles or not. I suspect this will be a quandary for them. They crave the attention the titles bring but will appear grossly hypocritical if they start using the titles for their kids.

Really? The official website is updated with the new titles for the Cambridge kids but not the Sussex kids. Still “Master” and “Miss”. Perhaps King Charles should have used google.

Here, look at the succession list. Everything updated except these alleged automatic titles.

The parents have to approve the titles for their kids. Princess Anne famously refused them for her offspring. Maybe you should’ve used Google.

I don't think they will. They are still royalty despite all of the shenanigans. And they may well move back to England. Losing a loved one makes people reassess their lives. Who knows what will happen. I wish them all the best.

Meant to say, I don't think they will appear hypocritical. At least not to normally adjusted people. Haters will take any crumbs they can get to fuel their hatred, tho.

This situation is closer to Prince Edward’s. Anne’s children were not entitled to the title, because Anne was the daughter of a monarch, and not a son. The Queen offered to create/grant those titles and Anne said no. Prince Edward and Sophie decided not to use the prince/princess titles for their kids, but because they are the children of the son of a monarch, it ultimately is the children’s choice because the title belongs to them. Louise just turned 18 and it doesn’t look like she’s going to start using the title. James is still too young to decide.

He was treated as an equal. maybe he didn’t want to go on the jet, or maybe he had a bad stomach or maybe he and Meghan were unsure of what to do and hesitated before the plane took off. Not sure why you jump to the conclusion that poor Harry was maligned when you literally have no idea.

Dp, but it does seem odd that it was announced to the press that Harry and merchants were in route, and then Harry showed up many hours later, alone, after the announcement was made.

*Harry and meghan

Here is how it actually went down:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11198885/King-Charles-told-Prince-Harry-not-bring-Meghan-Balmoral-dying-Queen.html

Thanks for posting the article, PP

No way Kate made the decision whether or not to be there. She would certainly have done whatever was asked of her.

Seems like they had Kate stay back as a reason for why they could say Meghan shouldn't attend. It would seem equal. But clear why they wouldn't want her there after everything.

somehow I bet Donald will not get an invite

I suspect all but him will be invited. Especially the Obamas. It’s a state event.

I don’t think the Brits will want to start off with a diplomatic row. They’ll probably invite only Biden.

I would fully expect a U.S. delegation that includes past presidents, at least one Republican and one Democratic. It's about showing respect, not whether you like them personally or not. Makes sense to invite the Trumps and Obamas.

The Bushs and Obamas will do just fine.

+1 even GWB would know how to behave

Other countries aren’t as fanatically obsessed with their flag as the US is. What exactly would wearing a flag pin imply? Their faces are on money—Elizabeth and her family are the literal symbols of the UK.

The royal family understand that people want to be able to do something tangible and it’s not writing a check. It ultimately helps engender support for the institution of the monarchy. Do you honestly think Charles and Camilla really wanted to do a walkabout and hug all those people yesterday?

Go look at the piles of flower that will be thrown away. Those will go straight in to a trash truck in a few days.
