Queen Elizabeth II

She is no longer doing most engagements. She's had a good life, if it's her time, then it's her time.

OP, she's 96. She should've made William king a long time ago.

+1

The Japanese emperor stepped down when he was 85. It's Charles' (or William's) time now.

Why? There is a reason you posted this in entertainment and pop culture. The UK will be fine without her.

I find it very sad, definitely the end of an era.

I will say, even though this may seem rude, that the royal family and UK media have handled this flawlessly. They've been consistently messaging the Queen's decline for several months in a compassionate and dignified way. No one will be shocked by the news even if they are sad.

It's not the royals or the UK media - its the palace press office

Agree, sad, end of an era. This woman KNEW Winston Churchill. Amazing life. She did her duty, did a good job, and was beloved for it. Too bad so many of her kids are shmucks.

The BBC has changed their background to black which is part of the process to announce she died.

I’m not saying she did but it looks to be expected.

It is also posted in politics, if you don't want to see royal news in Entertainment.

It seems sort of out of nowhere. Obviously she has aged, but has been doing engagements recently and had her jubilee in June. Hope she pulls through. Yes she has had an extraordinary life.

My grandparents are around her age, survived the Holocaust as teenagers, and are also experiencing a decline in health now. It really does feel like the end of an era for their generation, who we learned so much from.

I can thinking nothing better than living a normal
Life until 96, being sick for a day then dying. Much much better than suffering for years and years.

I would fly in for her funeral. She has been around for as long as most of us can remember.

Read this morning that Churchill was born 101 years before Truss. And she spanned them both.

Pretty amazing history, when you think about it.
