Is it too early to talk about The Last Jedi (spoilers)?

I'm still processing how I feel exactly about this movie. It is so different than others in the saga but was really well done. But I'm not sure I got the same soaring feeling as I did walking out of The Force Awakens the first time. Is Kylo Ren now the sole bad guy and irredeemable? It seems that they won't try for that in Episode IX. I do love that Rey and the child at the end seem to represent the future of the Force apart from the Skywalkers. I wished that Rey/Finn/Poe were together more in this movies as well.

My kids did not like it. Long and boring.

Just a few comments, overall I liked it. Worth going to see at the movies.
-jokes didnt seem to fit the tone of the movie.
-seems like the power of the force is something greater than I thought like how you can telepathically communicate and another thing( I don't want to give away the ending).
- intro of the new chick didn't add a lot to the movie.
- when are they going to sell those furry gremlin like things In the stores? All I could think about was how Disney is going to market them.

My boys (9-mid 40s) loved it. They thought it was the best of the three new ones.

I thought it was meh. There were many good parts but a lot of dead time that should have been edited out. I felt like it was trying to check off too many boxes (like with the Laura Dern character) and the timing was off as a result. Other characters, like the pick pocket, needed more air time and shoukd have been explored more.

I was happy with how they incorporated those furry things. I had feared they would be another jarjarbinks but they were not thankfully.

I think if they had cut it down a little bit (the between the action stuff) if would have been even better.

I actually like the pacing and length. Thought it was up there just below 4 and 5.

Overall I liked it. There were parts of the movie though that just seemed like fillers to take up time that should have been edited out. Like the part with Rey and the mirror images.

I liked the humor and those cute little furry things. I think there wasn’t enough character development but that lots of seeds have been planted for future episodes.

Agree re: too long and lack of character development—reminded me of an X-men movie where a bunch of random characters also seemed thrown in. Gonna take my early elem. kid this weekend, even though I think it’s a little too long for her (she liked The Force Awakens and Rogue One, and the original trilogy).

We’re talking spoilers, right?

Anybody else get sad when Leia was seemingly dying but then used the force to glide back to the ship? I was just thinking about the fact that she’s passed IRL. Also, was it surprising that she could use the force like that?

Anyone still think that Kylo Ren and Rey are twins? I think he just tried to mislead her during that scene so she’d join him.

I liked it but it was too long. The scene with Leia floating back to the ship was laughable. Mark Hammill is still a bad actor. The one liners were really out of place and threw off the tone of the movie. Laura Dern was a weird and pointless character. I did like the diversity and especially all the women characters.

I used to think they were twins or siblings, but don't you think Leia would have known that she was her daughter?

What if they were separated at birth and grew up not knowing each other, like Luke and Leia? Leia may not have recognized her as an adult, even if it was her own daughter.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

But she would have known she had another baby. Unless someone told her the baby had died a birth and kidnapped her.

I liked it, but not as much a Force Awakens. I wondered why they made Snoke such a big bad, then killed him. And the floaty Leia thing was weird. And Fin and Rose going to the casino was unnecessary. And I’m glad Laura Dern died (why didn’t she tell Poe her plan?)

But I liked the pacing and humor. I like the few callbacks they did.

I’m seeing it again with my Dad. Wondering if a 2nd viewing will change my opinion.

Hated it.

The guy who sees his aunt and uncle brutally murdered, who watches his mentor get chopped down, his dad electrified and many other tough things on his way to becoming the greatest Jedi ever does not go all cynical and weak and withdraw from it all over a bump in the road. Was just a totally inconsistent, lazy and stupid way to address the fate of a great character.

How does snoke go from being able to control both Rey and Ben WITH EASE and then get done in by Ben. The same Ben who a completely untrained, unaware and massively scared Rey just recently defeated? That is just idiotic. And inconsistent. And in creative.

And speaking of training, how is that going to happen now?

And if force ability is no longer conferred via bloodlines (because Rey means nothing to this story) is it instead just handed out via a lottery? And then all of Yoda’s theories about hard work are meaningless?

It just forgets so much about all that has happened and dismisses so much that previously mattered that it almost makes no sense. They need to consult with Joseph Campbell some more before the last one. Oh wait, that can’t happen. Ugh.
