If they paid ALL their coaches the same that would amount to about $25,000 per year. But, the fact is most of the coaches get paid a nominal amount. Technical Staff as well as the TD get paid the most and the rest of the coaches, many of whom only coach one to two teams make about $5-$10 MAX. For most coaches it is a part time job and not their profession. Your Loudoun Silver or Grey coach is not making $1200/month, that is fantasy created by parents. If you are a technical director then depending upon the club you could make anywhere from $50-100K. But no, your typical travel coach is not getting rich off of your kid. |
When I saw the numbers several years ago, coach got paid around $14-5K for 9/10 months of coaching- summer prep, fall practices and games, reduced winter schedule and spring practices and game. Expenses on top of that for tournament travel. If you can get three teams and do some add'l training on certain weekends and summer camps, you can get by as a coach but you won't get rich. |
For a good coach, $100/hr is a reasonable rate. There are many who charge more (esp if they are A or B licensed). But even at $100/hr, with a competitive team, training 3 x 90 min sessions a week, 44 weeks a year, plus league games, futsal games, and tournaments, that puts them over $25,000. If they are coaching 2 teams, plus doing some private training on the side, it is possible to make a pretty good living doing this. |
Most coaches I know have other jobs. Loudoun lost a good travel coach recently when he moved from USA TODAY to Fox Sports in his day job. |

Tidewater Sharks? Remember FCV sending out that awesome tweet that FCV girls were turning down DA offers to say at home and play NPL? Well......enjoy |

Gunston is also now a Spirit partner. So the VPL is getting the 2nd tier of Gunston players. Is there a 1st tier of players at Gunston that are DA-level? I never hear anything about them and now two news items in one day. |
Partnership doesn't make sense to me. Unless it's to pull in Vicky Hall and make her a coach |
Practice fields to the west of the beltway (Reston) and practice fields to the south of the beltway (Gunston). Now they just need an inside-the-beltway partner and they're set. |
Its only 4 teams. They don't need all those fields |
more girls signing up for summer camps |
The partnership doesn't mean that many (if any) any, Gunston girls will make a Spirit DA team. |
There is seriously a press release for this ? Virginia NPL seems desperate |
Exactly, I hope they enjoyed it while it lasted. Nobody will be bragging about playing in NPL any longer. |
I guess the problem is you think people care about girls soccer. |
