Is Notre Dame screwing up?

So let’s compare: school with 47,000 students - 518 positives. School with about 8,600 students - 763 cases. Hmmmm. Which number is “better”? I wonder. Do you think the President of UofM would go to a crowded event and not wear a mask when UofM requires all students to wear masks when they are not in their rooms or alone elsewhere?

Are all the students at Michigan on campus this semester?

Yes -- I mean I am not counting noses, but the main campus in Ann Arbor "opened" as normal.

I would add -- back to Grand Valley -- about an hour away from Notre Dame and with a bit more than 3 times the number of students as Notre Dame - 247 total cases and they are, of course, very concerned.

So why is a school 3 times the size of Notre Dame with 1/3 of the cases very concerned, but Notre Dame is doing so great that the head of the University doesn't even bother to wear a mask in a crowd of people?

I'm the PP wanting the percentages of covid vs. students--I know I can look this up, it's more that I wish the reporting in general focused on percentages rather than on number of cases etc. so we could quickly suss out how things are going in different places.

And maybe notice that the thread has turned to thinking about how varying colleges are responding to covid which is of central issue to most parents posting on the college forum?

My guess would be up, but I'd like to hear more opinions.

Notre Dame's president just announced he is positive for Covid. I hope he is okay (and didn't transmit it to anyone else).

Well, with the President of the University having it, I think we have answered the question “ Is Notre Dame screwing up?”. He may have been the one who brought it to the Rose Garden. given it to Hope Hicks and now the President and First Lady. So, yes, by starting the term early and bringing in the football players early, ND created a huge mess.

Obviously you don't have a life. How about starting another thread that is more relevant? Such as "How varying colleges are responding to COVID?" That should give you something fun to do today.

Interestingly, he said they all took rapid tests immediately before the event and everyone was negative. Of course those tests aren’t perfect, so who knows.

i wonder how they will account for that on the dashboard?

At this point he really needs to resign. He is a national punch line, and no one can respect his, “rules for thee, but not for me” approach.
