Did Shannon get pushed out? I never understood why she left. It seems like you would do everything in your power to hire a female coach who was also a 2x NCAA player of the year, FIFA World Cup champion and former DI coach. Why would you replace her with a club coach whose only playing experience is at a local college?
The MSI coach is also a top McLean ECNL coach and he does scream but not during McLean practices from what I know. |
We would be seriously looking at McLean as well and would be interested in any insight for 2009s. |
No idea how good McLean 2009 girls are now but rest assured by U15 they will start being good if not already, by U16 they will be real good, and their teams with Juniors and Seniors in high school will be the best team in the area or one of the best very few teams. They have very strong coaches in their ECNL program and a style of play that is smart and enjoyable to watch. |
^ We left BSC years ago for McLean and I truly believe that from a soccer perspective, it was the best decision we ever made for our DDs. McLean functions like a true club, with all of the coaches on the travel side knowing all of the players. Frequently, there will be multiple ECNL coaches on the bench at a game. A BSC coach once told me that if your DD has the opportunity to play for CW, take it - and this was in a conversation about returning to BSC for logistical purposes. I have heard him described as one of the top two or three youth coaches in the country., and know for a fact that college coaches pick up their phones when he calls. The quality of coaching is higher at McLean, they train consistently year-round and the kids play great (possession) soccer. No contest between McLean and BSC, in my opinion. |
^bless your heart |
The rumor was that she quit in frustration with BSC. She, laudably, brought in many female coaches for the first time in recent memory. Unfortunately, at least one of them was a terrible, screaming train-wreck, and a few of the others were either deeply unpopular or polarizing. She seemed very taken aback by the many parent complaints, several of which were over the top or off-base, I’m sure. But she was also defensive about and overly loyal to the problem coaches. I think at some point she decided it wasn’t worth the headache. |
I heard that Gus is actually coaching. If true, it is a huge score for Bethesda. |
Yes you can seein got soccer that he has at least one team. |
Interesting... |
hes been negotiating with bethesda since pre-covid.
|
Which side we he coach on? Boys or girls? U7-U11 or U11 and up? |
Coaching at least GU15, though perhaps others as well? https://twitter.com/bethesdascnews/status/1328379618370449408?s=20 |
My guess is ECNL teams. |
Thats the 4th team, yes. |
from the BSC Girls ECNL website; “Bethesda SC players undoubtedly receive the best college exposure of any club in the country, with players attending some of the top local and national Showcase events in the country, including our own Bethesda Premier Cup.” Kind of a joke and arrogant statement |
