This is a blue state bug (for now at least)

So dumb.

Yup. Mississippi just asked for the hospital ship Comfort to come.

They should only get it on the condition that they enforce mask mandates and proof of vaccination.

I know this sounds awful, but this at be the only thing we can do to get these idiots to do the right thing.

Might be the only thing

AL would just sacrifice those who are sick & low income, which correlates strongly along racial lines in AL.

Yes, I think Southern conservatives are trying to spread Covid & targeting disinformation to kill people of color.

There are no open ICU beds in the state.
The federal government is helping the Univ of MS Medical Center build a field hospital in the parking garage.
There are 2000 fewer nurses working in MS than there were 8 months ago so HHS is sending medical staff to help too.

The governor refuses to allow a mask mandate in schools, while over 1,000 children in MS were diagnosed with Covid last week and the pediatric hospital is also full.

Here's the future 50-bed field hospital

Where does HHS get the staff from?
They should leave them in the states that acted responsibly since they're going to be needed as schools reopen and cases increase.

I bet a good number of them are members of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service.

Not as well known as they should be, and true heroes, especially in this pandemic.

Thank god for the HHS health corps - I was begging Trump to do this very thing with DOD medical teams at the height of the first wave but glad to see Biden has implemented an even better solution.

Alabama, ICUs near full capacity
Mississippi, ICUs near full capacity
Georgia/ATL, ICUs near full capacity
Florida, ICUs near full capacity
Arkansas, ICUs near full capacity
Texas, ICUs are trending near full capacity

Keep screwing with COVID19 because that virus is loving it.

Not blue states anymore.

There are no more beds in the pediatric hospitals in Mississippi. Large numbers of kids are on ventilators. But they still don’t want to wear masks in schools

"bUT kIdS DOnT GeT COviD! OpEN tHE sCHOoLS!!!!"

I'd say I'm praying for this country but if there is a God, he sure isn't listening to the self-defeating idiots of America anymore.

I hope the sensible blue voters in those states got vaccinated. After the virus takes it's toll, the survivors could well turn those states blue.

Do you guys live in a shared fantasy world or is each populated by but one?

+1 to the charts PP.

I think it’s unlikely that enough will die that the states will turn blue, but if Republicans keep refusing to get the vax… with delta and no masks, it’s not “if” you get, it’s “when.” And not everyone who gets it is going to get very sick but that’s not a chance I want to take.

With The Pfizer vaccine under 50% effective now against delta infection it’s becoming more clear that this disease will spread seasonally permanently. People will be vaccinated from time to time but infection will continue and eventually become a normal part of life like the five or six other coronaviruses that have entered circulation over time. Better get used to occasionally getting sick.
