there is definitely one in Richmond, the patient is at the my cousin's hospital where she is a doctor. |
Just so posters know, the US has these kind of labs too. I worked on a deal a decade ago where DoD was selling land to a developer, and the environmental disclosures were incredible. The land was a former bio lab where animals (like monkeys) were being infected purposefully with HIV, ebola, etc, and there had been an issue with PETA breaking in and setting the animals free. So there were HIV, Ebola, etc infected monkeys on the loose, and the locals had taken some in as pets and the government had no way of knowing where they were, if any had procreated, etc and decided to shut down the lab This was in Puerto Rico. |
So they should have continued with the exchange program and just... hoped for the best? The stupidity certainly is strong with some of you. |
I think there is someone here who is very strangely trying to dismiss all of this like it’s nothing. |
No, my DC was the one at GMU this morning (Sunday) and actually saw the CDC and Va Department of Health there in the Commonwealth Dorms. However, it has NOT been confirmed yet as coronavirus by the Va Department of Health and the person saying so is just pointing to a report issued by the Va Dept of Health that says that there are 3 unconfirmed cases in Va, two in Richmond, one in Nova. There could be others throughout the state that have evolved since that report was issued. I'm the one saying that her powers of deductive reasoning are flawed. Why create a panic among 34,000 students if the kid is just sick with a headcold? We will know soon enough. |
I am reporting based on the email issued by Mason to staff, faculty, and students, and based on surveillance reports at VDH. http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/surveillance-and-investigation/novel-coronavirus/ This site will be updated on 1/27. There are no reports of a 4th case in VA as of 6:13 pm. |

My brother diagnosed the one in Arizona. He is an ER doctor and texted me about it 2 days ago--the patient is an ASU student who went home for christmas break and returned 2 weeks ago. There is a 24-48 hour turn around time for samples to be sent to the CDC and processed--the patient was tested 2 days ago and results back today.
He has seen another student case within the past 24 hours--also a chinese national back from holiday break. i would expect this to have a large impact in college campuses in the US. lots of chinese students. |
Don't they have some sort of rapid test that shows immediate results? Was this available with SARS |
Super. Patient zero in NOVA. |
Got some to use when my asthma flares. Guess they will come in handy. |
Is he concerned about his exposure? |
Thanks for sharing. |
You can still get them. Delivery will be from the manufacturer. |
