Sounds like you're just trying to shoot the messenger.

The daily caller's obvious agenda which I won't bother to spell out for you.

Trying to obfuscate the story ? How's the weather out there in PG today?

Are you kidding? So you really think there is no residency cheating? Give me a break. If our council actually did anything, I would love it so school enrollment is tied to a tax return. No more fake pay stubs, leases, etc. I would also eliminate the schools as responsible for registering students.

Of course there are incidents of cheating. But there is no evidence of significant cheating and plenty of evidence of people with other agendas pushing this story.

In my very small school zone, I know of 3 instances of residency fraud by affluent people. I can only assume there is widespread, significant cheating city wide.

residency fraud, or boundary fraud?

The series on school residency fraud continues. Let's hope these reporters keep on digging!

For people who post that fraud is not a big problem -- what schools do you use? Maybe it's a question of some schools have more than others. Or, are there commenters at schools with lots of MD tags that think it usually has a benign explaination (parents in different places, grandparent/nanny pickup, etc.)?

We're at a hill school with lots of MD plates, and it seems hard to avoid finding out that some of those kids do live in MD. b-day parties, random discussion, etc. no, I don't report, no clue full names of parents and addresses

you don't know the parents' full names and addresses -- you don't know anything other than that the kids spend time in MD and in cars with MD plates.

Or, when I had my kids birthday party in Bowie, a mom told me it was so convenient because they lived right up the street! Or, another said, we have the best parties at our house out in X, I mean, we sleep at grandmas house in the neighborhood, though. I promise I'm not seeking this information.

is it MV- we KNOW ppl who work with my husband who live in SS MD and send their daughter there. Totally made me angry- i know at least 2 families who didn't get in to MV who really wanted it and the person who doesn't even live here got in! this family is white btw - people complain about MD plates at Sela as well. Schools totally look the otehrway when it comes to residency fraud in general. I also know ppl who lived in Frederick who sent their kids to Churchill after they moved away from MOCO. This is totally unfair.

MV isn't ward 4, but that's pretty bold for a cheater to send their kid to a relatively new school.

They were free before thanks to a corporate grant. Never tax dollars.

Huh? when did they start charging?

I went to the pool last week. They're not charging.

It is new - starts in a couple months. My neighborhood listserv is blowing up about it today.

MOTH has been silent. And if the corporate grant ran out, why didn't they seek it again? Or rearrange tax dollars to keep the pools open? There is no sliding scale but you can apply for reduced cost. Just what we need, a bunch more people on the street.

Please link me with your information regarding this corporate grant that ran out. Again another bungled mess by the city council and our pathetic Mayor.

Pools have always been free for DC residents. Maybe there was a corporate grant, but before that it was DC tax dollars. I guess those tax dollars are busy at work lining the pockets of Bowser or tied up in Charles Allen's worthless camera scheme which benefitted other wards more than his own.

Is this credible re: pools starting to charge fees? When was the announcement made? I think that PDF lists charges to rent facilities for events.

They will charge fees, but PG families will be able to get in for free.

But
https://www.reddit.com/r/washingtondc/comments/43j40a/dc_has_proposed_to_updatecreate_usage_fees_for/

"just received a response: "I am in the office today so if you would like to give me a call, please call the office line below, but in the meantime, below is our explanation.
The current DPR regulations in 19 DCMR 716 have pool use fees but they are waived. In 2013, the law required us to revise our fees, so we revised the fees in the proposed regulations, however, the fees will continue to be waived.
Thanks for taking the time to write to us and provide input. Public input, to me, is the best data for DPR, so please keep my contact info for future matters. "
