Blood on steps is Nancy’s.

Whoever made that security camera should be out of business. They knew there was a problem within 24 hours and they can’t recover that tape? What a waste of money.

They can. This is all part of the plan. There’s no way the FBI cannot recover this, they could if they truly needed to.

Police say she took an Uber to the daughter's home (they have talked with the driver), and a "family member" drove her home later, arriving at around 9:48 p.m.

When asked specifically if it was Annie or the SIL who drove her home, the sheriff said he would not clarify any more than "a family member."

I believe they said it was a Nest cam. Shocked that they weren't paying for a subscription, at minimum.

Seniors can be quite frugal.

I am local and have heard that yes, there are (someone even posted a map of the locations). Traffic should have been very light on the main roads at that hour.

They have to have cameras around.

About the camera:

Apparently Nancy had posted on Nextdoor recently, asking about what camera (Ring etc) to get so that she could watch the wildlife. Someone posted a screenshot somewhere. Too lazy to go looking for it, but I’m sure it is out there if anyone is interested.

My guess it was just for wildlife footage and she didn’t really follow up with all of the rest. She’d lived there a long time and probably was not particularly concerned with security.

That tiny camera would not have been for wildlife. Doorbell cameras notoriously distort the view even up close. I’m guessing she was looking to install wildlife cameras.

If he is still in an active status with the Guard, and is a colonel, he may be in the position of squadron/group commander - or may have been on assignment in some far-flung location.

It is somewhat understandable he cannot simply walk away from his duties on a moment's notice. Keep in mind his mother was/is reported missing, not dead.

What is very unusual is his stiff body language and the fact that he is wearing a baseball cap during this video. Being military, removing your hat/cover is instinctive when in a situation like this. Surprised he kept his on.

It seems like his body language/abrupt statement indicates he was not comfortable with doing this video - for whatever reason.

What? He may be uncomfortable because his 84-year-old real mother is missing and could be dead or soon to be dead? Of course he’s uncomfortable. He’s probably not used to doing interviews or being on camera and he probably hasn’t slept or showered in many hours and he’s having to sit there and watch his sister read a very difficult statement.

Agree.

A normal person would be very uncomfortable in the circumstance with how much media publicity this has because of the famous sister . No matter how much pain or anguish you’re in and wanting to get your mother back, doesn’t mean you’re going to be comfortable speaking in front of a camera. It doesn’t mean you know something more, it doesn’t mean you think it’s a bad idea, these people are going through an intensely traumatic experience together, and to expect them all to be acting the same, all the siblings, is absurd. May none of you ever have to go through a traumatic experience in the public eye.

+1
And if the brother is particularly shy or uncomfortable with attention, he might especially feel awkward sitting next to his celebrity sister as she speaks so articulately. It is just not his thing to be in the spotlight but as much as SG is obviously destroyed by what is going on (it is gut wrenching to watch her in so much pain) she is extremely accustomed to and comfortable in front of cameras because that is what she does every single day. That the brother appears uncomfortable makes complete sense given the specifics.

I find it strange it took him 4 days to get to AZ

Her brother is a decorated military veteran who spent 16 years flying F-16 fighter jets in the Air National Guard and now flies for the Vermont Air National Guard, which probably took him a day or two to get stuff handled in order to get back to Arizona.

If my mother was reported missing on Sunday I would find a way to get there before Wednesday. Just saying.

Be thankful there’s nothing going on in your life with your spouse or child that would prevent you from getting there when you would have to make such a tough decision.

It wasn’t a good choice for wildlife, no. But that was apparently her intention- she asked specifically about a Ring camera to “capture animal activity” (I mean, she is in her 80s and not familiar) Someone in the replies suggested to her that a trail cam would be better, obviously. The original screen shot is on twitter

There have also been at least one fake ransom demand - they are bringing charges against any fake demands.

I saw they just arrested a random letter impersonator. Are they saying the letter was b.s. written by an impersonator or the impersonator was being creepy and trying to steal credit for a valid letter?

Honestly these imposters are as bad as the people who committed the crime. I am glad they arrested him. Hopefully others will be deterred.

My mom in Tucson uses her front door ring for wildlife viewing all the time. It was a little bit of a problem because her alarm was gojng off in the middle of night alerting her to someone at the door but it was just a coyote or javelina pr bobcat sniffing around the front entry. But people also get them to watch the hummingbirds — Nancy had a big property so I bet she got lots of birds and also lots of javelinas rooting for the stuff that falls off the trees. My mom primarily uses her ring to know whether it is one of us at the door or just a delivery person or animal — she’s not worried about law enforcement purposes so I think would not be super concerned about a long term backup, except she likes to check and see who is eating her flowers.

Oh,Tucson, I love you — a packrat as big as a cat. God, I hate those pack rats.
