And back on furlough Nov 21, since the House won't come back due to the Epstein discharge petition.

Why? Do they need the House to open the government ?

If the Senate were to somehow come to pass the current CR, they aren’t needed.

If the Senate comes to agreement to change any aspect of the CR, the House is needed.

Good thing what passed the house a month ago was a clean CR, what every democrat advocated for in prior shutdowns.

It’s not clean though, because a clean CR means it is identical to the prior year and last year had the Obamacare subsidies.

It absolutely is clean because the existing law had those subsidies expiring.

But it radically changes existing spending levels. You don’t think expiring tax cuts wouldn’t be reserved??

Democrats were in charge when they passed the new subsidies to be time limited. (The original ACA subsidies remain in place) If they were intended to be permanent they should have done it when they passed it. It’s poor and lazy legislating.

This. I really think they thought they’d be in charge at the time those subsidies were scheduled to end. They should have used a bit more forethought in their legislation.

I don’t understand what is “lazy” about it, I guess? If they could have passed permanent tax cuts within their coalition they would have.

Federal workers who are taking free food from food banks should donate to food banks when they finally get paid.

I am a democrat and emailed Van Hollen and Alsobrooks asking them to vote to reopen the government.

Move over George Washington, Donald Trump is now the father of this great nation.

I’m a fed and I completely agree with this.

And hopefully they continue to do so (is “Feds Feed Families” still around?) in the future.

That’s a nice thought, but I’m guessing if someone is at the point of needing to rely on food banks to feed themselves and their family, they’ve likely already racked up credit card debt and will be facing interest and penalties and likely late fees on other things like their rent and other bills. So it’s not like when we get paid that it’s just all hunky dory as if they’ve just been tiding themselves over with savings and are now made whole. Sure, some of us are, but I’m guessing that’s far from the majority, especially when you are talking about the lower level GS workers. People aren’t going to food banks because it’s fun.

Furloughed federal workers are going to food banks in their Mercedes, BMWs and other luxury cars. Talk about misplaced priorities!

Just stop you sick POS.

Trolling on here will not do anything but show how utterly stupid you are for the whole internet to see.

Why don't you go to MARALAGO and poop in the new disgusting bathroom.

Those subsidies do nothing to stop soaring costs and spending in health care. I used to be a big ACA booster. Now I am silent on the matter. The unsubsidized fees are about what we pay for non subsidized retiree health plan. So they are market rates.

Different democrat here. And whether you like it or not, it’s Dem no votes that have blocked opening the government at this point.
