Charlie Kirk shot at Utah Valley University

I thought Charlie Kirk was the one that said that gun violence was an acceptable cost for the right to own a gun. I'm very sad that he died, but he did say that, then he died for what he believed in.

As someone who lost her father at 3 years old, this little girl will never forget today, as I haven't for 61 years later

Why? Kirk was not a politician, statesman, or a public figure that would have warranted this.

Just because you can get more to the right of charlie kirk doesn't mean he was not extreme in his views.

Nice to see that conservatives are trying to calm things:

Yeah sure that’s why Trump has ordered flags to be at half staff for him but never any school children.

All the people consuming radical content online are going to wind up killing each other and all of us regulars are all just going to be stuck in the crosshairs.

Then it is sad what "moderate* has become

I was concerned this incident would be used as pretext for a horrifying mass crackdown on innocent Americans, but then I realized this was a school shooting. When it comes to school shootings, Republicans say the only thing we can do is offer our thoughts and prayers. So I will offer my thoughts and prayers.

Guns and the Second Amendment
Kirk was a gun owner and gun rights advocate. After the Parkland shooting, he spoke for the National Rifle Association in Parkland, Florida.[76][77] He said in a Turning Point USA event on April 5, 2023, that:[78]

You will never live in a society when you have an armed citizenry and you won't have a single gun death. That is nonsense. It's drivel. But I... think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational.

This was a political assassination.

It is always so sad when someone is violently killed, especially a parent of young children. Unfortunately this happens far too often in the United States. I extend my deepest sympathies to this man's family and especially his children. And to people present at the shooting. That must have been terrifying.

What someone claims their “whole thing” is and what their whole thing actually is are very often two different things, as here.

A very dark turn for the nation as a whole. We are perilously short of prevailing cooler heads.

I didn’t agree with him but this breaks my heart. I am sorry for his family.

He did. Here's some saying that it is the cost of liberty. I a poor violence and I'm sad that he died. But it looks like he died for what he believed in.
