Is it ironic that WFH anti RTO people use childcare with no RTO allowed? |
Of course they complain. Getting a specialized job is not that easy for the same pay. |
I think it's different because people aren't arguing that jobs that have to be done in person should be allowed to TW. For example, someone working in a SCIF isn't advocating to be able to TW nor is someone that is a police officer or a firefighter. |
DP but I’ve actually heard the inverse. Because there are a lot of jobs that cannot be performed at home then no one should be able to WAH. Which is weird because all jobs are different and have different requirements and different pros/cons. My hair girl runs her own studio. She cannot WAH (heck she can’t even sit most of the day), but she has total control of her hours around her kids’ school schedules and can go part time or work more hours as her schedule allows. Is it fair that other people get to sit at a desk all day and she has to stand? Is it fair that she can schedule her work whenever she wants and others can’t? What about teachers. They have to be in person, but they’re also off for 2 weeks of winter break while a lot of us WAH parents are burning leave or paying for camps. It’s such a dumb rabbit hole to go down. |
Please translate to English. |
It is hardly possible to live that lifestyle in this area. There is no place that has “affordable small houses” most families could afford on one income. |
Life has never been easier in human history. |
Get real jobs.
My DH is a firefighter and works 2 or 3 24-hour shifts per week. He will retire at age 45ish with a fabulous pension. He is able to participate fully in raising our kids. My master's is in secondary ed and work as a substitute teacher; I schedule my work days around DH's schedule. My kids have minimally needed outside child care. I traded in full-time teaching when my kids came along. SMH at these glued-to-their-chairs moaning weenies. |
I don't know how it could be said any more clearly... |
No noi! We want them glued to their chairs and attached to their cell phones! DH is a chiropractor and we are making more money than ever. Just bought our beach house in Cape May. Don't improve your posture and don't stop looking down at your phone. It's providing us with a very nice lifestyle. |
You take the job knowing the work environment. The issue is the jobs that were wfh long before Covid are now changing to office. Some scif jobs can be part or mostly wfh. |
What is scif? |
Sensitive compartmentalized information facility. Place where classified work gets done. |
You sound so weirdly bitter. It is very difficult to get a job as a firefighter, every person cannot do that and there are way more qualified people than there are spots. |
How do you live in this area and not know what a scif is? |
