What’s going on with the two bills?

Ohhhhh, that explains this CNN article I read today. Really goes against the Dems narrative that 'everyone' wants BBB.

But just as Manchin campaigned as the lone Democrat to support Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court in 2018 -- as he pulled off a three-point victory in the deeply red state -- his allies suspect he might do the same if he's the lone Democrat to tank Biden's multi-trillion agenda...
...
"West Virginia was Donald Trump's second biggest state in the country," Rep. Alex Mooney, a Republican who is viewed as a potential opponent to Manchin in 2024. "And whenever Manchin does something that's conservative, like opposing Build Back Better, the people are supportive of that. If he does something that's more liberal, like Build Back Better is liberal, I don't think voters would support that."

The House Democratic Caucus Chair basically just said its not happening

Because Biden lied about this bill. Period. Don't pee on me and tell me its raining.

Why Build Back Better is so unloved
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/why-build-back-better-is-so-unloved-204138736.html

Voters aren’t all that enthused. Just 41% of respondents in a recent NPR/Marist poll said they support the BBB legislation, with 34% opposed and 25% unsure. Support for the bipartisan infrastructure bill Biden signed in November was 56%. That 15-point gap in support is the difference between legislation Americans want Congress to pass, and legislation they don’t.

Look for it to pass in full before Thanksgiving.

Well done, Dems!

LMAO. Nope. Try again in two years sucker.

Yes, we know Manchin is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

She also said she would put the infrastructure bill on the floor yesterday and hold the vote open to get the bill through.

Guess that didn’t work out too well for her. Lame duck Speaker losing control.

She already lost control and the 3-year-olds are running the house. Oh well.

Nancy is a lot of things but she is a shrewd politician. They're going to end up with eggy faces in December.

Why? Because you say so? If there’s anyone with egg on her face it’s Nancy. I think it’s high time her and the rest of them start standing together with the CPC and abandon the corporatist agenda.

Reading between the lines - this alliance between Klain and Jayapal is not going down well.

The vote came at a moment of high tension inside the White House. Aides said the president has grown increasingly short-tempered. Over his three decades in politics, Biden has been known to scream at staff on occasion, but Biden aides said since he has become president, the yelling has become more frequent and directed at a wider audience of staff.

Tensions were also running high between the White House and Capitol Hill. On top of Pelosi’s anger with the White House last week, frictions ramped up between the speaker and Jayapal. Some Democrats on the Hill also expressed frustration with Klain, who they said had empowered Jayapal and her caucus at the expense of the rest of the party. Klain speaks regularly with a range of members, including moderates such as Gottheimer, a White House official said.

Time to get rid of Klain and Jayapal - they wouldn't compromise. New year, new leadership.

Supposedly, Jayapal has expressed an interest in the Speaker's position if Nancy retires or doesn't run for Speaker (or, more likely, minority leader come 2022).

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

She can express interest all she wants but she’s not getting it. I don’t even think she’s in House leadership.

Manchin is doing what his constituents want.

A Rasmussen poll in West Virginia last week found overwhelming opposition to the immigration provisions in the Build Back Better reconciliation bill.

Although Sen. Manchin has said, in theory, he would only vote for an amnesty if it was accompanied by border security and enhanced enforcement, he has voiced no opposition to the mass amnesty in Build Back Better.

If he listens to his constituents he will not vote for a reconciliation package containing the immigration provisions.

The Rasmussen poll of likely voters in West Virginia released November 22, 2021 found that:

65% would vote against a member of Congress who supports amnesty without border security measures to prevent illegal border crossings.

Just 33% of Democratic voters support an amnesty in the reconciliation bill without additional enforcement measures to secure the border with Mexico and stop future illegal migration.
