Biden’s economy

In just May, 414,000 immigrants (legal and illegal) gained a job. Meanwhile, 663,000 native-born Americans LOST their job.

Since pre-Covid, native born workers have actually LOST ~2 million jobs. All of the net job gains are immigrants.

So you should support comprehensive and robust penalties for hiring illegal immigrants, right? Or higher minimum wages?

83.6% prime age labor force participation rate. Highest since the .com boom! Trump could only dream of such a big number!

272000 jobs added in May! Blockbuster report! Thanks Joe!

EVerify would help address this. Why do GOP employers, including Donald Trump (who employs illegal immigrants) oppose it?

The number of people working MULTIPLE jobs in the US hit a near-record of 8.4 MILLION in May 2024.

That's a jump of 3 MILLION people since the pandemic low in 2020. This is exactly why part-time employment is skyrocketing, up +286,000 in May.

All while full-time employment fell by -625,000 over the last month.

The reality is that many Americans are struggling and working multiple jobs to "fight" inflation.

Why is there such a big disconnect between data and reality?

Yes. Why won’t the oligarchs spend a few bucks to employ these people full time at fair wages?

This is the worst best jobs report I have ever seen.

- Household survey -408k, Establishment +272k
- Full time -625k, Part Time +286k
- Native born -663k, Foreigners +414k

They're cooking the books

No to higher minimum wages. Controlling immigration will have a natural effect on wages.

...for foreigners.

I don't see any Republicans rolling back guest worker visas.

TRUMP DID. he will end it and only folks like us will be working .

Hmmm. What do you think that will do for inflation?

How did inflation rates compare during their respective presidencies?

You didn’t answer the question.

Neither did you.

Maybe ask why employers insist on split shifts and part time work to avoid paying full-time benefits?

Glad we have economists that actually know how to analyze this stuff.

The household survey is notoriously inaccurate, that’s why it’s so lightly reported and talked about in economic circles. You using these numbers, especially monthly numbers, to show/prove something is inaccurate at best.

The employer survey, which is the jobs report listing a 272k increase, is highly accurate. It’s based on actual employer payrolls. It gets revised based on official state data over a few months but is a quality initial estimate.

More evidence that this government is trying to manipulate the numbers...

All of the headlines say that the US economy added 272,000 jobs in May. However, when you dig deeper into the data you can see that full-time employment actually FELL by -625,000.

Meanwhile, part-time employment rose by 286,000 along with the unemployment rate to 4.0%. This is the biggest drop in full-time employment since December 2023.

It's also the first month with 4.0%+ unemployment since February 2022.

How is this a "strong" labor market?

It’s not.

It's stronger than it's been for most of your lifetime.

Nobody's cooking the books. Same methodology they used during the Trump admin.
