So much for the recession and economic disaster.

Thanks Joe!

Unemployment rose to 4 percent.

WSJ “Recent data on retail sales, overall consumer spending, construction and industrial production have all come in below economists’ expectations.

Demand for workers has also appeared to be ebbing. There has been a modest uptick in the number of people applying for unemployment benefits after losing a job. Listed job openings have declined faster than economists had anticipated.“

Biden's economy just generated more net jobs in one month than Trump's economy did in four years.

This is reflected in the higher "labor participation" metric.

Which is good.

I don't see any Republicans rolling back guest worker visas.

Hmmm. What do you think that will do for inflation?

Something doesn't add up here:

All of the headlines say that the US economy added 272,000 jobs in May. However, when you dig deeper into the data you can see that full-time employment actually FELL by -625,000.

Meanwhile, part-time employment rose by 286,000 along with the unemployment rate to 4.0%. This is the biggest drop in full-time employment since December 2023.

It's also the first month with 4.0%+ unemployment since February 2022.

How is this a "strong" labor market?

It’s not.

The insane trend continues…

In just May, 414,000 immigrants (legal and illegal) gained a job. Meanwhile, 663,000 native-born Americans LOST their job.

Since pre-Covid, native born workers have actually LOST ~2 million jobs. All of the net job gains are immigrants.
