It's never too late. |
If your kid is not on path by U16-U17 then chances are your kid just doesn't have what it takes. It's no knock to your kid, it's reality. If your kid is at that level, they would have been seen. Now if you chased a badge and your kid just rode the bench all these years or you chose a team who doesn't promote or help your kid, then it's most likely your fault. |
That mentality won't get you anywhere. |
Just telling the reality of all this. You have to be elite, if you are elite the scouts have watched or are already watching. U18-U19 shooting for hail mary's |
A certain level yes, but many of the early "elite" burn out, don't make it, either, opening up new opportunities. The churn never ends and its up to the player to decide when the dream stops. |
100% agree unfortunately you're dealing with littles parent that knows everything and nothing at the same time. |
Overuse the word elite much? The top tier elite players at U18 were always high level at some elements plus were doing the right things at U13 etc to build and develop. Some always had the spotlight and some didn't till later Nobody is elite at U18 but was below average at U14. They were just seen and acknowledged later |
| Teenage NIL is going to really change things. |
It's amazing that so many are delusional in thinking every kid has a shot at the few spaces on the top of the mountain Is it ignorance about sports or life? |
I never said every kid. You’re just wrong to write off blue chip players who preserve and keep developing. |
Not sure what this even means Who's writing off who, and how? |
"blue chip" "top level" or whatever you want to call them are the players teams and clubs build themselves around. Everyone else can come and go it doesn't matter because they all want to be the next blue chip player. This is why parents chase plastic trophies. 99% of the time it doesnt happen. What this means is all you need to do is watch how clubs interact with top players and teams. Over time this will become how they interact with lower level players and teams. This is because they look at lower level players as a potential player/talent pool. Basically if clubs dont allow Aug birthdays to play down on their top teams. (they wont) This action will trickle down to lower level and age groups over time. |
How can clubs go against the league age month/year cutoff to allow a January player today to play down, or allow an August player next season to play down? |
Wow ... We've seen some clubs say they'd rank by grade where possible ... Most say case-by-case ... And now the other extreme. |
The whole grade thing is so ridiculous We're here focusing on college soccer when our international competitors are focused on professional soccer |
