Right. Kids are used to it. ID camps they have to play with folks they don't even know, most of the time. |
Dishonest and making things to. u18/u19 grouping is already GY. |

This club -- Sporting Blue Valley which offers MLSN and ECNL in Kansas -- doesn't seem to want to deal with grade at all ... From page 15 of their presentation:
"School Grade is Irrelevant: It is much easier to consider the new age-group placement as relative to the August 1st cutoff and is not tied to their school grade level (whether they have been held back or are ahead)." Page 19 "Can players play up a grade level? SURVEY - Playing Up SBV will retain the same policy we’ve always had: A player may play up an age group only if they make the top team in that older division. ❖ Exceptions: Exceptions are rare and reserved for specific Goalkeeper situations or to combine two small player pools to form a viable team. Why we aren't delaying the changes: ❖ We have chosen to "rip the Band-Aid off" rather than kick the can down the road. ❖ While we could artificially keep current teams together by moving everyone to an older age group, we would eventually be forced to fix it. ❖ We believe it is better to realign correctly now. This avoids years of confusion and temporary fixes, ensuring every player is on the correct long-term development path immediately" https://storage.googleapis.com/msgsndr/YNEbnN6f4t8L8P45OAD6/media/6945b18a173966b1e3b3b9c2.pdf |

It's interesting that Sporting Blue Valley want nothing to do with grade year.
While I expect most clubs to adhere by default to the new age cutoffs, I would expect a bit of flexibility for grade misalignment. |
There's another slide that illustrates how grade can go sideways which underscores their thinking. They have a July Bday in 3rd grade in older group (U9). An Aug. bday in 3rd grade in the younger group (U8) and a Sept bday in 4th grade in the younger group (U8). It just illustrates how messed up it can be if you were to have the Sept (the youngest of the 3) in the older group based on grade and why keeping grade out of it makes sense. |
if you are on here for u18/u19 your time is over. Why even be in the convo? If your kid hasnt been picked up by now its time to just go to college, get a good education and welcome to the real world |
Because of late developers. Because our pay-to-play system misses a lot of talent who can't afford it. ... I could go on. |
How is U18/19 Jan 1, 2007 to Dec. 31, 2008 GY at all? And switching a few months to SY doesn't make it GY for next year either. Word on the street and from USYS is that showcases will have separate grouping for each graduation year next year. |
Like what was said....you ARE TOO LATE to be in the CONVO. |
Would someone share links to announcements regarding showcases “going graduation year?” I searched google and only see Grade Year or School Year both of which reference 8/1-7/31 cut-offs. |
Its almost like someone is lieing to you. Kind of like when they're trying to bend reality saying that clubs wont play Aug with their grade in school. The unfortunate thing is the age troll posts over 100x a day trying to push their playing down agenda. Literally go anywhere else where you cant post over and over anonymously and you'll see that most people dont recommend playing down with a younger grade. |
This is so modern politics of you - the Deranged August Guy. In fact you are the lunatic spamming threads about the topic. Now, you turn it around and claim your adversaries are the trolls. I can no longer imagine this is real, but rather an academic or other effort to test communication and reactions of communities with vested interests. |
You post the most on this thread by far and are projecting here. You're currently trying to push down how Sporting -- a top club in Kansas -- is completely not using grade at all and their rationale for doing so. |
Listen to you. You had to create a term, playing down, that no one knows what it means to push your hateful agenda to force club soccer to grade year. Leagues and teams picked 8/1 to 7/31. Everyone gets an age bracket based on birthdays where they are more than welcome to play, insinuating they can't or should be shamed is a pathetic boomer thing. Only actual playing down allowed is late developers in MLSN1. Best for kids to avoid being over 12 months younger than some in their age bracket, aka playing up is a big risk. Highly increases chances of injuries. |
I am also convinced that Mr Aug hater is running some type of graduate school socialogy project to troll a forum to gauge reactions because actually expecting to use an anonymous regional forum to create a rule for youth sports seems to stupid to even try. |
