What's your controversial food opinion?

Milk chocolate, regular Coke and McDonalds fries are the best.

Not a fan: sushi, anything really spicy, lobster, shrimp, crabs.

Also, I find I can't enjoy a meal if I know it cost more than about $30; I just can't get past my inherent cheapness

Melon is disgusting. All melon.

Dark chocolate tastes like eating a bitter candle. I notice bags and bags of it lying on the shelf in the grocery store so I must not be the only one who thinks this.

Yes! We allowed the kids to order soda yesterday, and I was picturing a small kids cup but they were given a giant vat of the stuff. I'm fine with a little as a treat but this was ridiculous, and why I don't allow it more often. And I miss being able to order a "small" for myself on occasion and it actually be small.

White chocolate is not chocolate. This is the hill I will die. If there's no cocoa solids, then it's not for me. White chocolate only has cocoa butter, lies, sugar, and sadness. It was a disgusting way to get rid of cocoa butter back in the dawn ages before people gave a crap about fancy skin care ingredients. Just say no.

Also dark chocolate is superior to milk chocolate and I'll fight anyone who says different.

I like you.

Lol to all of this. The best anti-white chocolate rant I’ve seen.

Haaagen Daaz ice cream is meh

Stale puffy Cheetos are better than fresh.

Cantaloupe tastes like rotten fruit

You've never eaten a proper cantaloupe if this is your real opinion. I wouldn't be surprised, as most cantaloupe you find anywhere is garbage. It has a short season and should never be eaten outside of season.

Yes. DH was like cantaloupe-disliking PP but I helped him see the light

DS didn't like yellow vegetables but loved cantaloupe (and athena melons, which seem more reliably better) and still does. But it is so, so hard to get a good cantaloupe. Most are green and they don't actually ripen after being picked. I read that they way to find a ripe cantaloupe is to smell the stem end, you should be able to smell the fruit (I try to be discreet about this when I do try it). Most of the time you can't smell anything at all. Pretty much it does seem like it actually has to approach fermentation to get sweetness and the right texture--not crisp but avoiding mushy.

Ripe cantaloupe smells like poop to me. I can't even keep it in my house

Maybe the best thing i have ever tasted was a slice of fresh cantaloupe, still warm from the garden (I was visiting a friend in the south of france) sprinkled with just a few grains of sea salt. it was sublime. It was a miracle flavor.

I hate cantaloupe in the USA.

You do realize how pretentious you sound, right?

Well it’s roughly the size of a two year old child, if the child were liquified. It’s a real bargain at $1.59.

I met him in passing, as a nobody. He was friendly, warm, and spent a few minutes talking to me and my young sons. I think he's the real deal. The WCK certainly is.

He uses his fame to get attention for food insecurity and to raise money for his charitable efforts. He can attention whore all he wants when the end result is helping thousands of people.

Jose Andres should receive a Nobel peace prize for WCK.

Shame on you.

Well, it’s generally mostly ice. I like those mini cans or the old fashioned glass bottles, which seem about the right size. I hate the big gulp containers because they are always watery from all the ice and immediately flat. So gross. I drank a lot of soda when I was young and super skinny, now I am old and fat and only drink it once or twice a year.

What’s even worse than the really bitter dark chocolate are those fancy French chocolates that are dark chocolate mixed with flavors like lavender, paprika, or liquors. Gag.

And MSG. Learn to love it.

These are people who don't know squat about cooking.

I put Vegemite in my Bolognese. Same same. It’s delicious.

Most people don't understand that Worchestershire sauce is a fish sauce, too. It's based on anchovies. Great in chili and bolognese.

Also, fresh cantaloupe should be served with a black pepper girnder.
