What's your controversial food opinion?

Sushi is disgusting. I don't understand why anyone would put that in their mouth.

Semolina pasta is the only good kind of pasta. No pasta made with whole grains, beans, peas, or gluten-free pasta is even passable.

I'm exempting rice noodles and other traditional non-Italian pasta.

I think Wendy’s chicken/spicy chicken sandwich is better than Chick-fil-A

I don’t get the chick-fil-a cult following at all. It isn’t bad food, but it isn’t outstanding either and not worth a wrap around drive-thru wait. Tastes like typical fast food to me

I don't get it either. I tried it for the first time in my 30s at a group lunch and it was...fine? I was expecting something truly delicious given the hype.

I love both Wendy's and ChickFA but definitely think the spicy chicken wins out. My other controversial opinion is that real sugar sugar is better for you than any substitute, including honey because it satisfies more, causing you to eat less in the end.

Have you tried it?

The golden mushroom soup makes an amazing base to a roast.

Add vegetables, season roast, dump in a pot with two cans of golden mushroom soup, add water = boom, my pot roast recipe. Everyone but me loves it. I just make it because other people like it.

Intolerances are real. If a person can have both a dairy allergy and CMPI THEN it stand to reason that a person can also have celiac OR gluten intolerance. Many autoimmune disorder patients are encouraged to remove dairy or gluten from their diet to see if it helps.

There are also an increasing number of studies showing that increased intestinal permeability is a factor with tolerance of food proteins, which can be inherited. As the permeability increases larger proteins can "go through" and are flagged by certain immune cells.

I used to feel the same way as PP until my doc suggested it bc I have an autoimmune issue. It helps.

I like small plates because if I will be able to find at least one dish I like. With big main course, it is all or nothing. Like the duck in Bresca is gross, I would have preferred it came in small portion.

You don't have to be a vampire to be a sophisticated eater.

Eat any food any meal - eg "dinner" food for breakfast. Eggplant is disgusting.

Starbucks is garbage. Their coffee quality has long since declined since they decided to focus on trendy popular drinks that are basically dessert.

If you "need your Starbucks," I strongly suspect you to be the kind of person who also thinks you're superior to people who eat fast food, but you're eating/drinking the same garbage.

True. A plain macchiato is fine in a pinch but everything else is just pseudo pretentious fast food.

I am anti Dunkin’ Donuts. Every time I’ve had their coffee I feel like they have a chemical aftertaste. I like but don’t love Starbucks. But I don’t get the DD obsession.

I completely scoffed at the entire gluten-free/dairy-free thing for years. My autoimmune issues flared after my second child. I had one doctor concerned about lupus because of my blood work. I was recommended to go gluten-free and dairy-free. Unfortunately I’m also intolerant to corn and nuts/legumes per my allergy test, so I had to cut grains out. I can still tolerate rice as long as it’s properly washed. It’s helped significantly in terms of joint pain.
