It makes no sense for the Spirit to kill off the VA DA. A lot of these clubs are cash strapped and they'd be killing off a revenue stream among other things:
1. The Spirit's Pro team has a large coaching staff. For the ones coaching at the academy, I would assume their salaries are being subsidized by the academy fees 2. They're lucky to have two large academies drawing in money from people that are willing to pay for it. I think most clubs will kill for that. Not sure what the benefit to the Spirit would be by sharing that with another club 3. The academy allows the Spirit's pro team to tag players as home grown players in the draft. They just sent 3 players to Div 1 schools (Penn State and WV). So there are 3 potential players they could claim in future drafts 4. I would imagine their training pool comes from the academy, which people would have to pay for to participate. If the owner knew so much about soccer and how to run the organization, he/she wouldn't have hired a CEO. Of which, has spent a large part of his coaching career developing kids. If anything, I would think that worst case they would adjust the academy fees. Although, I don't see how the academy wouldn't already be profitable. The academies are a license to print money. The one thing that Larry brings that the Spirit desperate needs is organization. Given today's press release, I'd say it's off to a good start. |
My kid played against Pulisic when he played for his PA club (PA Classic) in the DA pre-Academy. He was smaller and slighter than the average player on the field. He buzzed around and never got creamed. Now, he is the US's best hope for World Cup glory. |

Most soccer playing kids in nothern virginia were not raised by a father who was a former pro player, pro coach and a mother who played high level college soccer and given a ball to play with at age 2.
He could cope with the speed and physicality of the game with much older players, and even did that as a teenager on the USBNTs. That is why he is special and in the .0000001% For your average kid around here, who plays against a team of team full of bigger or more athletic players (speed, quickness, coordination included) from a club with a huge player pool at U9-U12, they end up playing defense and backed up against their goal for almost the entire game. |

While you're under there, reread page 2 |
So you're telling me there's a chance? https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/840/283/350.png |

There is always a chance Rocky. Keep fighting the good fight.

The only thing to learn from this thread is that Larry is taking over as CEO. The rest is nothing but rumor and conjecture. |

/?ro?om?r/Submit noun 1. a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth. What is the uncertain or doubtful truth? The information was leaked directly from those in charge and confirmed by those who are associated. Parents didnt make it up. However, you are obviously free to use any terms you see fit. |
The owner(s) aren't running the club. The CEO is. |
That's the laziest reasoning I ever heard. And by the way, Wambach, Morgan and several other WNT hero's weren't exactly short. Neither is Ronaldo or Ibrahimovic. Size is irrelevant for true soccer skill and plenty of "bigger" players work just as hard. This is such a weird bias. |
The information didnt come from the owners. |
Tell that to Dan Snyder. I doubt this owner is hands off at this point. |
Everything here is rumor....maybe not doubtful but definitely uncertain. That's the nature of anonymous forums....unless you provide names/credentials with any statement, it's all rumor until proven otherwise. I'm not sure why you are so hung up on this. They have made plans to announce direction this week or next. They may be to disband or continue, we don't know. |
