The Lil Hoyas will be fine. While their 2026 class is rather weak, except for the blue-chip attackman, the 2027s and 2028s are loaded. Throw in their dorm complex and the ability to recruit nationally (and even from Canada) GP will continue to remain an elite program in the DMV. Any naysayer who thinks otherwise has an axe to grind against the school or is jealous. |

This has been discussed before, Speaks and Urick are close friends. They grew up together and played their HS ball at Robinson High in Fairfax - this is above their pay grade. I don't know if GP and SJC play each other in any sports these days (soccer, basketball, baseball). The animosity between the school admins is genuine. |

| Not surprising the admins have genuine animosity- SJC came from way behind in the 90s to a legit competitor slash better than Prep in a lot of things - for less than half the price - and that probably annoys the GP people to no end. |

GP is far superior academically to St. Johns College High School. It always has been, and always will be. St John's has become a borderline sports academy, which is fine if that is what one is looking for. |

| That might be true but SJC is now a viable option for kids looking for Catholic School in this area - whereas before it really wasn’t. So there are kids who got into Prep this year and chose SJC instead and that has to really irk the GP people who tried to get those kids to Prep. Hence the animosity. |

100% - Go to St. Johns - Save tuition and your son will still get into the University he wants. All boy schools are toxic. |

| SJC competes far more with Gonzaga for students than GP. They both can recruit for athletics, cost about the same and have the same size student body. Far more students from the parishes and privates have chosen SJC over Gonzaga than GP. The problem for SJC is GZ is still a far better academic school. SJC is going to need about 15 more years of progress to erase the damage done from 1985 - 2015. |
