Nothing like an armchair quarterback/backseat driver. You must drive your spouse crazy with all your opinions about how things really are and should have been.

The police are called to the Speaker of the House’s home about an intruder. They see a back window has been broken. (And don’t get me started on why her house doesn’t have a security system that has glass break detectors.). Two men are inside and have been for some time. Someone inside the house opens the door. The police see two men (albeit one older) with a hand on a hammer. And one is able to fracture the other’s skull. And you think there’s some error in minor play calling? Either this isn’t what happened or the police really screwed up.

So what do you think really happened then? And why are so many people covering it up? Was a fake blog planted months ago as part of as elaborate scheme to create this plot? You're telling me that this is the more believable story? Sorry, this sheep doesn't buy that.

I don’t buy any of that either. Not a single bit of it. I think what we’ve gotten from police — their words today — make zero sense. If Pelosi did run to the door, why he didn’t keep running out into the arms of the police? If they were both by the door when it opened, police somehow messed up because someone they were standing feet from got their head bashed in.

Tell us what really happened. We’re waiting with bated breath.

I've asked multiple times for what the "real" story is and nobody can provide anything. Just vague disputes. Not particularly convincing. Sounds kinda like a cultist trying to deny something could be wrong with their leader.

The nut job attacked Pelosi for letting the cops in. How dense are you? Pelosi can’t possibly be a victim? It has to be his own fault or your world view collapses? WTF is wrong with you?

It's a conspiracy cult. They move the goal posts to every perfectly rationale explanation for what happened. They insist the most logical explanation is a deep state fake.

"Need For Understanding
When a person experiences distress over uncertainty or witnesses a large-scale event, the mind will start to look for explanations that connect the dots. Those with lower analytical abilities and less tolerance for uncertainty are more likely to believe a conspiracy theory. This is because conspiracy theories can often provide explanations for events that seem confusing or frightening, and believers can assume that they are being intentionally deceived. People are also naturally inclined to search for information that confirms their existing beliefs; this is known as confirmation bias.

The ability to easily share and spread information over the internet has increased belief in certain conspiracy theories. Someone with a conspiracy theory addiction may seek out information to support something they already think is true, rather than seek out new information or challenge their beliefs. A need for understanding and consistency can lead to addictive behaviors such as spending excessive time on the internet and ignoring relationships and responsibilities."

Low key burn for some of the PPs here.

Once again for the “I’m smarter than everyone else in the room and I think SoMeThInG dOeSn’T aDd Up” crowd: a MAGA crazy attempted to assassinate the 3rd in line of presidential succession. This is happened because the GOP has been stoking violence among their followers, and they are taking zero credit for it.

Since I am a nit-picker for accuracy, he didn't actually plan to assassinate her. Just break her kneecaps.

Why do you think a bunch of people on the internet would be able to provide you with the "real" story? None of us were there. It doesn't matter what you find to be "convincing".

Why are MAGAs so triggered by this? Did you not know that MAGA hates Pelosi, she gets threats all the time, and it's no surprise that crazy gonna crazy? If this is NOT your fault/your party's fault, why are you even engaging at all?
After 1/6 do you really find it hard to believe that a crazy MAGA is gonna crazy MAGA?

If it's NOT representative of your party as a whole then I do not understand your defensiveness and insistence that something else simply MUST have happened.

I personally don't believe that there's a deep state fake here, my post was to prompt the MAGA folks to post their own account of events, the narrative that they think supposedly actually makes more sense (hint, they won't because nobody has after repeated requests, just vague denials that the published account of events can't be accurate).

Come on, folks, You have to realize by now that the something-doesn't-add-up poster has to be a troll--and is probably just one person posting over and over again. Jeff can confirm if it's the same person or different ones.

Even if the poster isn't a troll, this whole thread shows the power of the Rethuglican (yes, I said it!) strategy of introducing conspiracy theories and alternative facts and doubling down even when they are disproven. They literally can say anything and some percentage of their followers will believe it, whether it's crazy or not (e.g., pizzagate, gay hookup gone bad in the case of Pelosi)--and the rest will think it's possible, if not probably.

Tell us again, Republican voters, how your party is treating this attempted assassination with the gravity it deserves.

Why is the right joking about and normalizing an assassination attempt?

Because contrary to their traditional self-appointed moniker, they are not a party of decent family values.

Fair point. But do we really think that having taking her to the Capitol with broken kneecaps his next step would have been to carefully deliver her to the ED of GW, or would she, in his plan, have been killed? And has anyone figured out for whom she was the lure?
