I’m not a “you lib.” And Charlie Kirk is still dead. |
I didn’t either. But I’m more concerned that there is a pervasive online culture that is driving young men to publicly assassin individuals with different political/ideological beliefs in order to silence them and gain clout, notoriety, and attention, and that they are encouraged to do so by fellow people (probably other young men) of the dark internet. That isn’t to say gun control isn’t needed, but I don’t see it as the major problem here. Kids’ brains are getting scrambled |
They are willing to accept deaths, including little children, so that they can have guns, except it appears, they are triggered now that a MAGA talking head was killed. So, to them, a MAGA talking head is more important than the lives children. This from people who claim to support babies and are "pro life". There's a lot of irony in this situation. |
More cognitive dissonance. It's convenient to select for "leaders" and ignore the electorate. Maybe you're not seeing the many celebrations on social media from leftists. Plenty of republican leaders are calling for calm and peace. Governor Cox has been very impressive. |
It’s clearly a gun issue as much as a radical lonely extremist issue. |
But will any change gun laws? Or try to do anything? |
Do you have any idea why though? Like seriously, do you understand the historical context behind not wanting to give up your gun to a tyrannical government? |
Yes, and both problems need to be addressed with policy solutions. |
Yes they did. And they also have two younger boys. It’s time to enact a parent/guardian gun law. If you indoctrinate your kids, or anyone in your care, your guns are confiscated and you will stand trial. The outcome will determine imprisonment. |
Here's a helpful hint. If you don't want to be called a fascist or Nazi, then stop saying things that make you sound like one. Denigrating lgbtq trans people, and blaming immigrants for your woes are things the Nazis did. |
He's an adult now, though. How long would the parents' responsibility last? |
A gun isn't going to save you from a tyrannical government. |
I agree gun laws are important, but something much deeper is at stake here. We have totally lost the plot as a country if our path continues on this hate-filled rage-filled path, and all we focus on is differences and disagreements rather than what connects us as fellow Americans. Ifyou actually watched Kirk's campus visits (and not just the cherry-picked soundbites out of context) you would see that he often talked about how its ok to disagree, and that talking it out was important, and he'd also connect to the person over shared beliefs. This is what Ezra Klein meant when he said Kirk was doing politics right. |
I would argue that the need for democracy over-rides the need for unrestricted gun use to counteract tyranny. The current level of gun violence is unsustainable. |
That’s your opinion. Mine is that we are going to see a lot of interesting things about who radicalized this kid, and who funds that radicalization. We might very well get to see under the hood of the far right religious extremist machine. It could be as good as the release of the Epstein files! |
