Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift engaged!

If you were a singer billionare, you’d do the same I believe. Singer millionares with smaller fan bases actually have more freedom to say anything on their minds.

No one is yada yada- ing you. We can disagree and say that the most practical logical reason she says nothing is money vs. Whatever you think it is. The President isn’t bullying her any more than he bullies anyone else. HE is a equal opportunity jerk to anyone who disagrees with him.

I’m not sure I even understand what you think bothers her when she “speaks out.” Do you think online naysayers with zero power can possibly “bully” her. Bullying implies imbalance of power and Taylor doesn’t feel that. She IS the power in the situation.

Taylor has no freedom, I agree, but I think her love of money silences her. You think she “pays a price” when she speaks out. What is that price?

Why do we expect this of celebrities? Taylor’s job is not in public service. She is a popstar. I really really don’t understand this pushback. Taylor doesn’t owe you anything.

When will we democrats learn that celebrities are probably hurting the cause more? No one had more celeb endorsements then Kamala and Hillary. And look what happened there

Republicans have basement dwellers with no platforms and no money like Scott Baio and Dean Cain on their side. And they’re winning elections. I truly think celebrity endorsements have hurt Democrats more than helped.

Taylor was a really strategic about encouraging younger people to vote in that move a needle and that was impressive. But she really has to pick where she wants to take a stand and she has a limited number of opportunities to do that. She should be very very strategic and patient about how she uses her voice. instead people want her to hop on every bandwagon.

Celebrities don’t hurt the Democrat cause. It’s just Democrats are too divided whereas Republicans always fall in line.

Republicans who are meh about Trump or don’t like him are still probably gonna vote for him.

Democrats’ purity test is too high. Democrats who are meh about a candidate or don’t like them will just stay home.

She doesn’t have to. Who cares? The issue is Taylor and her fans billed her as pro feminist during one of her eras. She has proven that she doesn’t care so much about rights as she does money. She doesn’t have to stand for anything but why did her fans cry every negative criticism was misogynistic and Taylor feminist if you didn’t see her as such?

What stands out to me in this moment is Taylor’s silence. In the Miss Americana documentary, she was politically outspoken and willing to risk her brand by speaking about women’s rights and elections. But now, through ICE raids, the rollback of reproductive rights, an increase in gun violence, devastating conflicts in the Middle East and so on, she has been strategically quiet. Instead, she spent airtime talking about bread recipes rather than the issues she once championed.

Her choices seem calculated, and everything feels like a business transaction. Even her engagement, rolled out in Ralph Lauren, timed perfectly before her album release and the NFL season, reads like a campaign rather than a personal milestone. The NFL itself, heavily conservative, benefits from her association just as her brand benefits from the sport’s audience.

Hovering over it all is the political undertone: Trump’s positive remarks on her engagement, the careful neutrality being crafted between her, the White House, and her fanbase. It reads like the story of a woman who traded her once-powerful voice for commercial safety.

I don’t get the pushback for Taylor not speaking up. She heavily endorsed Kamala Harris -look what happened in there. She also came out against Marsha Blackburn and she won anyway.

If You seriously want to blame a pop star over what’s happening in this country then you are really uneducated and have no idea how the world works.

I would not say "heavily endorsed" - wasn't it one tweet? But yes she encourages her fans to register and vote and she has a big reach.

I agree there is no point to her speaking out now. What would that do, PP? Hopefully she will say something before the midterms.

Say what though? I mean, are we really going to blame Taylor Swift for the fall of democracy. Seriously this is insane. It’s very unlikely the Dems will get back the Senate and even the house is going to be a reach, especially with all the gerrymandering.

Hopefully dems will do well but whatever happens, it’s not up to Taylor.

She has spoken up before and elections still haven’t gone our way. I would love vin diagram of the people who have not done one damn thing, including even voting themselves, and are blaming Taylor Swift. I bet it would be staggering.

Yep. 90 million people stayed home and every single one of them is to blame.

It's very clear to me that she still loves Joe and is settling, they will be about as happy as Justin and Haley are.

I predict a baby in the next two to three years and then the split will probably happen about year four or five.

Well, Selena got engaged last year, but sure? Feel like if she was trying to steal her thunder, timing it 9 months later is not a great idea.

Y’all. No one is blaming Taylor for ‘Murica. Not one single person said that on this thread. That is a ridiculous idea.

But can we not agree that she isn’t speaking out for women’s rights and that she is NOT leading the way or on the “right side” of history anymore. Isn’t it clear that she doesn’t take a stand and isn’t a standard bearer for women’s rights?

Because during the Eras Tour that is what Swifties were saying. This proves them wrong.

Did you listen to folklore, Midnights, TTPD? She got over Joe many years ago. It’s Matty Healy who she probably still loves and is rushing to beat him to the altar. Her relationship with Travis began shortly after Matty dumped her, likely in an effort to spite him and nurse her bruised ego.

She announced her official breakup from Joe on Matty Healy’s birthday in April 2023, her present to him. And compared her time with Joe to a slammer, a short lasting move-on drug, and a 6-year “love blackout” (in Glitch). Sang to Joe in Bejeweled she can tell the band, The 1975, that she doesn’t remember if she still has a boyfriend or not etc.
