Mine questioned my professionalism.
It's been months, and it still stings. |
| "You sound like you belong on DCUM." |
| Why don't you take a deep breath? |
|
'We need to get you a backbone'
She was a bitch. Only lasted a month in the job and she quit thankfully |
| One boss was so mad at me that he was red in the face and looked like he wanted to strike me. He didn't, but I was genuinely afraid. |
| 'I will never write a good review of you again.," after I filed for overtime. Three months after her promotion based on MY work. She was asked to leave, but not before she almost ruined my mental health. |
|
"Hasn't anyone ever told you before that you are intimidating?"
(No) "Well you are. Maybe you can just work on watching your tone." He's a good boss but I don't think he even realizes how sexist that conversation was. It was over six months ago and I still think about it every day. |
| She told me something I wrote sounded like a 6 year old. |
| Called me retarded. When I asked her to please not use that word, her response was "what a retarded thing to say!" |
| Spoke to me in the supremely condescending slow way with long silences between words and each word long and drawn out, as a way to suggest she thought I was completely incapable of understanding anything. My life was utter hell. |
| Told me I was "always negative" and killed ideas. This was after I made a suggestion 2-3 weeks earlier. He gave me all these reasons why it was a bad idea. Then 2-3 weeks later he makes the same suggestion, as if he just thought of it. When I quizzically repeated all the reasons he gave, he called me negative. |
| My boss bullied me into coming in and giving a presentation to the department the day after my sister died. I quit shortly after. |
| I honestly don't think he even realized how awful this was, because he's a nice person. "Oh, you've only been here two years? I guess I thought it was longer because you're older." |
|
My boss has no filter. He asked me to reach out to the "midget oriental" woman in Office Services (he meant the short filipino woman).
There was the time he was telling me about how his family has had a southern plantation in the family for generations and then wistfully said, "It's a shame it's not operational anymore." I even confirmed with "But wouldn't that mean there would still be slaves?" and he double-downed. "Yeah, but it was really beautiful in its heyday." |
Did you come straight from college, or think you looked like you were 2 years out of college? I don't understand how this is awful if you're older than that. |
