The alternative ranking below popped up on another thread the other day. It's interesting to see which US News top schools are still on top even when totally different criteria are used. Vanderbilt is the #3 national university, behind Northwestern and Penn. |
Oops, here's the link! https://lesshighschoolstress.com/blog/6/ |
I can come up with an alternate ranking where my kid's school is #1 LOL |
Which ranking are you referring to? |
Not in my experience. But, on a related note, in many parts of the South, Vanderbilt will trump Harvard. Where Ivy grads are viewed with suspicion and "otherness," Vandy grads are lauded. |
Where does your kid go? |
UVA
Duke Swarthmore (just not an appealing/healthy culture) NYU Dartmouth (toxic masculinity) |
Vanderbilt is trending up. It might become a top 10 university in 10 years. Smart rich kids love Vanderbilt. Nashville is a fun, mild climate boom town. I'd much rather be in Vanderbilt's shoes than cold climate middle of nowhere Big Ten universities, dangerous UChicago, and boring suburbs of Chicago Northwestern. |
I attended a Catholic HS in DE - our valedictorian went to Princeton. I only know a couple kids who applied to ND. One of the top 10 went to Villanova. A couple went to St Joe's
I think it depends how Catholic the student body is of the school. Most of us were at our HS because the academics were very good. The religion was an afterthought. |
Who woke up the anti-Chicago troll? |
Yup it would be so dumb to think that all Catholics are created equal. There's a huge spectrum and different degrees of Catholics. My kid chose ND because of the overall education and program strength. She's careless about the religious side. |
HAHAHAHA. This might be the most ludicrous comment I’ve seen on DCUM, and that’s saying something. And I’m from Tennessee. This sure as h*kk ain’t true. |
This! |
Michigan an average school? An average school is not ranked in the top 25 nationally/worldwide and has an endowment of 18 billion. |
