What is the most overrated school popular among the dc metro area crowd?

The word "average" has a meaning, both absolutely in mathematics and generally in conversation.

Posters are responding to the headline, not OP's characterization of two specific schools.

Notre Dame, only because the cache and status conferred artificially inflate its numbers. It’s a good school, but in my experience, graduates are pretty average.

Whatever schools my kid didn’t get into.

NYU fell down in my eyes when I saw how they treated their quarantined students. (Why hire a food service company that had lost its contract for poor performance in the past?) Similarly, I am disgusted by Georgetown's lack of maintenance. We went there for a meeting and there was LITERALLY not a chair you could sit on in the common area of the student union. So many were broken or stained to the point of needing fumigation.

It's cachet, dummy.

Another vote for Elon. I know, kids LOVE it there. That's great, but then what? Not much that I have seen.

Someone needs to tell the Rhodes, Marshall, Luce and Fulbright committees then. And Oxford, since my DD, a graduate of UVA, is there right now. https://www.cbs19news.com/story/41733271/uva-top-producer-of-fulbright-scholars

not overrated when you consider the price for in-state tuition. A great deal in fact.
