Williams? It seems to do a really good job of getting its grads wherever they want to go.

+1. Do not believe everything you read on DCUM.

Do not believe ANYTHING you read on DCUM.

Precisely. VT .

Huh? Talk about an example of someone whose kid must have been rejected. VT is exactly the opposite of the description above. But, you knew that.

Ha! No. My kids are at ivies. Kids from the top 10% do not apply to VT from our private because it is inferior to the ivies and T20s they attend. I mock it because colleagues have kids there (who goofed off in HS and were not able to finish top 20% at their private) and are endlessly frustrated by the easy tests and lack of challenge even in engineering which they are supposed to be good at. They all say it is easier than their top private Hs. The jobs are very limited with no PhD track or MBB big consulting tech or finance tracks . Med school acceptance only comes from-the top5% and the classes do not prepare for MCAT.

Why do you think the 3 schools above are?

Claiming something is overrated without any evidence or reasoning is meaningless.

Isn't Williams like top 5 LAC?
https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/school/?168342-Williams-College

Outcome Isn't impressive at all compared to it's ranking. Seems overrated.

exactly - where grads from slacs like bowdoin and wesleyan seem to revel in being unknown to masses and their school’s quirkiness, Williams alumns are the opposite - and demand being compared to the ivies - the few dozen I’ve met have been tiring and obnoxious in this regard - rest assured, no ivy is comparing itself to Williams!

+ 1,000

This is so spot on!

Why do people pick out Duke other than jealousy? They are near the top from many perspectives. Outcomes (earnings, graduate school acceptances, awards) are very good. Alumni are loyal and supportive. Academics are strong in most areas. Graduate programs are very good (but not top). Campus is attractive and a nice size (although separated). Athletics are a plus because of basketball. Weather is good compared to the Northeast.

Athletics are mostly a minus since they detract from academics.
