Notre Dame just changed spring semester
They pushed back the first day of class to feb 2 and canceled spring break

Smart and well thought out.

I thought lots of schools were already doing this? That's what I'm hearing from my friends with college aged kids.

Yeah, it's pretty standard. It's a bit much for schools that are ending before Thanksgiving and then not starting until the beginning of February. But it makes sense. It would be great if the schools offered January virtual intensives for either classes or career extras etc. so that the time can be occupied, esp. for students whose family situation makes getting a job unsafe.

But it is Notre Dame where everything they do is celebrated as ground breaking

Well I understand UCF is looking for ND to reimburse it for a lost game now as ND players spread covid to UCF players. Maybe ND needed to do more testing and get more compliance from students

The scale on the Notre Dame COVID dashboard is so odd. You'd basically have to have 50 positive test results in a single day for it to look like anything significant.

LOL first of all it is USF and the score was 54-0

ACC requires all football players be tested 3X a week by independent contractor. This has been done. For all teams. Including ND and USF among others.

USF has no grounds to be "reimbursed" LOL

Nice try though!

And yet ND somehow “missed” 7 players who were positive. What were those players doing? Why were they allowed to play? Who did they catch covid from? Who else have they spread it too? Covid did not spontaneously generate in 7 players (or more) since it is clear ND either has a major testing problem, a major compliance problem, or simply lied.

Players are tested 3X a week. The players who were positive this week were not positive last week. Do you really think they would put infected players on the field? What the hell are you smoking? The testing company is a third party company that tests the entire ACC so they would not allow players who were positive to play. Again nice try!!

So - how do 7 players get covid and spread it to the opposing team if the are obeying team rules? Were they really tested Friday before Saturday’s game?

Prevention methods are not foolproof.

(Anyone remember olden times, just a few years ago, when the standard medical advice was to wash hands, but other than that, for all practical purposes, colds could not be prevented?)

But the players would only be in contact with other players and tested football staff from the last covid test to the game. Unless, of course, someone is lying.
