Are you the poster who keeps bringing up abortion laws and Covid restrictions?? And you have the gall to call someone else a troll? Get a clue.

No. Sorry to disappoint you.

It’s about merit aid. Get a clue.

It's about more than merit aid -it's a combination of merit aid, great weather, and a different less-crazy competitive environment after a crazy pressurized high school experience.

Well, a Virginia resident with a 4.0 and a 1490 with state awards in a nerdy EC will get rejected from UVA and get a free ride to Alabama. This is not rocket science.

Auburn has been voted “happiest students” for years.

MD, DC, and VA are in the South.

DMV area is not South.
One thing though is they send their kids to actually South, UVA VT W&M

Yes it is. Dmv is very different from tri state or New England.

The south starts in York, Pa / Hagerstown md / Frederick md

I’ve lived in both the DMV and tri state areas and they are not different. I don’t get this comment at all. They are the same mid Atlantic vibe.

Umm…no, the two areas are very different. I was brought up in the tri state area and now live in the DMV.

These are a few of the major differences:

1. DMV is reliably, overwhelmingly Democratic. Tri-state has more Republican pockets than here.
2. DMV is much better educated and is snobbish about the education.
3. Tri-state status depends much more on $$$$ with the exception of a few over the top areas in the DMV (Potomac, Great Falls, Parts of DC).
4. Here, it’s still more a game of what you know and who you know than how much you make, although clearly this area has gotten far more materialistic in the last 20 years as New Yorkers and others move here.

Anonymous wrote:Covid is a huge part of it. Kids wanted to have a normal college experience and the southern schools were offering it. And the threat of schools being effected by surges is lot less in the south.

Anti-wokism is another part of it. A lot of kids want to have a college experience where they can have open conversations and discussions, and not have to constantly be aware of something innocent resulting in censorship or cancellation. Did y'all know you can no longer say "grandfathered in"? It's racist. https://medium.com/@nriley/words-matter-why-we-should-put-an-end-to-grandfathering-8b19efe08b6a

Thanks so much for enjoying your normal college experience.

Signed,

The top states in terms of covid deaths per capita. .....

Mississippi
Oklahoma
Arizona
West Virginia
Alabama
Arkansas
New Mexico
Tennessee

Lol, can’t make a silk <parse> from a sow’s ear

OVERALL to date, not PER CAPITA

State Number of deaths
California 97,817
Texas 91,510
Florida 83,201
New York 74,252
Pennsylvania 48,527
Georgia 41,172
Ohio 40,644
Illinois 40,394
Michigan 40,327
New Jersey 35,213
Arizona 31,822
Tennessee 28,406
North Carolina 27,533

Yup, not DC, VA or MD! Even less so if you look at a per County basis.

The south barely placed restrictions at all-remember the politicians saying granny had a good run?

The topic is that the south did not take covid seriously including for college campuses.

And now? Is covid gone? Or are we all the South?

Make light if you must be a jerk but it took over a million and counting and some of the worst hit states are in the south. Of course

Don't you just hate people who don't let you make decisions for them?

The one? Gen Z is pretty depressed in general. Your sample of one is meaningless.

Not Z. I know it is anecdata-I was just sharing.

A tragedy, no doubt, but if you control for age, obesity, and vaccination rate, regional differences evaporate. Once vaccines became widely available, other mandatory mitigation measures did not affect outcomes.

Until they get pregnant.

"College girls are guaranteed to be careless and promiscuous, certain to need abortions" is such an interesting take from progressive DCUM moms.

Most moms are not so clueless as to be unaware of rapes and unwanted pregnancies that happen to college females.

Or of the very slippery slope to criminalizing miscarriages and/or birth control methods
