College and University Discussion
Great lesson they got in college. I am low risk so f the rest of you. Excellent. |
It's not really fair of the rest of society to impose much harsher restrictions on college age kids than we did on people who were getting really sick and overwhelming hospitals. There was no real evidence that college kids were a problem during the pandemic, society should have mostly left them alone. If I was a college student (or the parent of one) at a school with heavy restrictions, I would have looked very hard at transferring somewhere I could live a more normal life. |
| God forbid young adults be expected to participate in helping control the spread of a serious infectious virus. Let's teach them that they have no responsibility there and that it is someone else's problem |
Lol, can’t make a silk <parse> from a sow’s ear OVERALL to date, not PER CAPITA State Number of deaths California 97,817 Texas 91,510 Florida 83,201 New York 74,252 Pennsylvania 48,527 Georgia 41,172 Ohio 40,644 Illinois 40,394 Michigan 40,327 New Jersey 35,213 Arizona 31,822 Tennessee 28,406 North Carolina 27,533 |
Totals are meaningless. The per Capita number will indicate the deaths relative to the population. |
| Do you two not understand the topic? |
The topic is s that the south did not take covid seriously including for college campuses. |
Until they get pregnant. |
Whether you agree with their decisions or not, seeking out a more enjoyable college experience played at least some role in kids picking southern schools, since they could live a normal life down there. People wanting normal lives for their families accelerated the number of people moving down south during the pandemic. I couldn't imagine being a college freshman living under the crazy restrictions some of these schools had. |
| The MAGA troll wants to make this political but it’s just about money. Southern state schools give out a lot of merit aid. |
Not being concerned about a serious pandemic and how to assist in mitigating suffering and death is "a normal" life for some I guess. |
And now? Is covid gone? Or are we all the South? |
| New Mexico doesn't really belong on that list. Their high concentration of Native Americans were overrepresented among those with pre-existing conditions. And a large share of the Native population live in areas without sufficient medical care access. It's also a state with a high share of lower-income people. The Democratic governor did a really great job at keeping COVID rates down as much as possible through various policies and mandates. |
They didn’t place heavy restrictions on a population that was not likely to be seriously affected by COVID. Meanwhile, around here and North we have an epidemic of depressed teens and students that have fallen far behind. |
Are you the poster who keeps bringing up abortion laws and Covid restrictions?? And you have the gall to call someone else a troll? Get a clue. NP |
