What time do you go to bed?
How did you start the habit? Any tips/tricks to get up that early? I can make it to the gym, but I've been getting there around 8AM or later these days, which means getting to work at 10AM, which leads to staying until after 7PM. . .. you see the issue. I want to get up early, be done with my workout, and still get home at a reasonable hour. |
| I signed up for an expensive 5:30AM boot camp, LOL. I HAD to go because I really couldn't afford to just waste the money. It helped make a habit. Although I've gone back to evening workouts (morning workouts make me very hungry all day) because I don't coach a sport after work anymore, which was he reason I had to get up early to work out for that time period. |
| What has helped me the most is making sure I get quality sleep (rather than just quantity). Zero phone and computer screen after 7, no tv after 8-9, no caffeine, a decent pillow, cold room, go to bed as soon as I feel tired to prevent "second wind", and ideally meditation and breathing before bed. If these all fall into place I wake up early with no problem and feel energized enough to workout. |

I wake up at 4:18 (that's two snoozes lol). I used to work out after work, but that had to stop when DC1 was born. The way our family schedule works (and it DOES work for us) I have to go early or not at all. Not at all makes me a raging beotch, so I go to bed early, I aim for in bed 9-9:30.
Lay out everything the night before. Also, I don't shower at night, so i must wake up early to shower anyway, at which point I figure I should work out too. I used to put my alarm across the room. |
| My only tip is having everything ready. Then I can just get up, pee, and leave within 15 min. I sleep in at least 1 piece of my running attire and have my shoes and keys by the door. I grab a banana on the way out, |
| I've been getting to the gym between 4:45 and 5:30 for about 20 years (I always went before my kids were up and my husband had to go to work). I generally go to bed around 9 or 9:30. I agree with laying everything out the night before. Make it as easy as you can on yourself so you don't have to think about anything and just go. You also may want to try going earlier in increments-like 15 minutes earlier each week. That might help you acclimate and stick with it. Good luck! |
| You must lay out everything the night before. 1 have to go to bed at 10p every now th to get up at 5a every morning. |
| I go to the gym at 5:30 am. On nights that I go, I just sleep in my workout clothes. |
| Go to bed around 11 or 12 and wake up to take a 6:30am class. Helps to meet friends there. We usually text the night before to confirm who's going to class so we're less likely to flake on each other. |
| Lol my kids get up at 5:30. |

It doesn't happen unless I'm meeting someone. Been getting up early to exercise for years but meeting someone or committing to someone is the key.
If you don't have a gym buddy, then tell a friend you will text her to confirm you went. Promise that if you don't go, you'll buy her a drink/gift card. |
| Well, i get up at 5am and its 10 and im still awake. Id rather suffer through an early wake up than be fat. I get fat fast when i don't exercise. |

I get up at 5:45 and run. Saves time because I don't have to get to the gym. I lay out everything the night before and don't do anything but get dressed, pee, and rinse out my mouth before I go. I'm out the door in 5 minutes, have my run, and get home before anyone else is awake. Then I shower, brush my teeth, and get ready.
I try to go to bed by 10:00, 10:30. |

Like everyone said, lay out everything the night before. I'm out of the house in 15 minutes on days I do this.
The other thing that motivates me is beating traffic. I live in Frederick and work in Rockville. Leaving my house at 6 am, I make it to my gym in Rockville by 6:45 most days, unless there's an accident or bad weather. I get to watch the sunrise on my drive in, and when I'm at the gym, and the traffic report comes on the morning news, I am so glad I made the effort. And then I feel energized for my day at the office. There are so many benefits to morning workouts! I fell out of the habit for a few years and got fat; I'm getting back into it now. You can do it! |
| I can't seem to go to bed before 11, but I get up at 5 or 5:15 to run or hit the gym. It sucks. I'm tired all the time. But I get it done. |
