DCPS posted this year's lottery data as well:

So glad they released this.
Also it would be great if they learned how to spell 'dominant.' |
|
Van Ness list is longer than it has been.
Brookland only matched 50% of their available seats. (I'm assuming this doesn't count for feeder?) The great "no one IB is applying to HA" philosophy seems unfounded, with IB kids on the waitlist for PK3 |
|
SWW only has a wait list of 51 for 9th. They admitted 140.
That seems odd. |
| 14 IB (1 IB w/Sibling) WL at Shepherd PK3. That's new. |
More selective? |
|
8 IB on the PK3 wait list at Barnard.
The Petworth baby boom continues. |
Yes, last year there were OOB spots in the PK3 lottery. Big jump, relatively speaking (it's a small, low-density IB area--but with a baby boom of kids < 5). |
| Looks like Langley had a great year, 20% increase in PK3 applicants , and upticks for PK4 and K as well. Is it due to the new principal? |
| Wow, 26 of Eaton's 35 PK4 spots went to IB with sibling. That is a crazy increase from when we applied 2 years ago, there were only 14 IB with sibling. 39 IB and 2 IB w/sibling accepted on the wait list? That's more than the capacity of the PK4. If all those children end up attending for K the following year the K class will be 100% IB and way over capacity for the 3 classrooms. |
| I'm just glad they are sharing their full data set again. |
Seriously. I badly wanted this last year! So glad it's back. |
Someone download and save in case DME changes their mind. |
Probably more broadly in that area West has 19 IB on the PK3 wait list Brightwood has 5 IB on the PK3 wait list Tubman only took 2 OOB (with siblings) Powell (English) also only 2 OOB Truesdell is still only about half IB, and I'm not sure what the deal is with Raymond. Why is it so low IB? |
|
Wow, Beers in SE waitlisted 3 IB kids including 1 with sibling! Popularity of PK is not just a NW and Capitol Hill issue.
It looks like there are 24 schools with PK3 waitlists of 5 or fewer kids (counting schools with Spanish/English dominant or Montessori/nonMontessori lists as a single school). Most but not all are EOTR. And the idea that people were going to avoid Hyde-Addison because of its relocation seems silly. More people were waitlisted for 5th grade there than at Mann, Stoddert, Shepherd, and Key, to name a few. |
