That's why DC United have so many talented players coming threw the academy

Wouldn't he be the new academy directed at DC if this was the case?

So now he sucks?

I've been around a few coaches in my lifetime. I know enough to make this claim.

I think the point is DCU just appointed a nobody to be academy director. If Torres had the respect of that organization wouldn't he be the new director?

I don't know either of these guys, but I can say with absolute confidence that there are a lot of great coaches who are terrible administrators and vice versa.

And let's clarify, are we talking girls or boys, because the answer can be very different depending.

CCL is trying to expand, but it will take time...SYC and FCSC joined for CCL II. NVSC and Ellicot City joined for CCL I. Not that these are awesome clubs, but for those non ECNL/DA players, what's the other option? It's not like VPL is very competitive either...and you have to play teams in other parts of the state too.

CCL needs to expand a lot further if they are going to be considered the best regional league like they claim. I think they need to get the other Richmond and Virginia Beach clubs to join. That would give the league more credibility across the state and would give those clubs more teams to play locally. If it is such a great regional league why is there only 1 club each from RVA and VB ? Once they get more clubs they should also have a way to relegate a club to CCL2 if they are consistently terrible across all age groups. maybe relegating the worst CCL club and promoting the best CCL2 club every year (based on overall club record), would help address the problem of lopsided games. That would also give new clubs in CCL2 like SYC and FCSC a pathway to CCL that they have to earn.

Based on Paul Ellis's comments at the SYA town hall, I believe CCL would be open to expanding.

As far as the relegation- that would completely defeat the purpose of CCL. They claim that the league is about development and that it can be more about development and not winning if there is no worry about regulation to a lower division. In my experience - I've seen plenty of coaches more concerned about the win. However the other benefit of not having regulation is that I know my kids in different age groups will be playing at the same place each week. So while it is no fun to drive to beach fc, at least I can watch all of my kids games.

The CCL 2 and CCL games do not follow the same schedule (so you would not play against the same club at the same time)

Roanoke Stars is a 3 hr 44 min drive from DC, ONE WAY! What kind of idiot league schedules any games down there for 11 and 12 year olds!? This is not ECNL where you travel to play some great team in another state. This is Roanoke, a joke of a soccer city. West Virginia clubs are all closer. I can't believe you all are even having this discussion. Keep drinking the Kool aid if it works for you I guess. Without BRYC, CCL has 4-5 clubs worthy of discussion, and the rest are no better then VYS. Elite Champion Quaility.......Kool aid!

Give it a rest. Stop knocking other clubs and cities. What kind of an idiot calls out 11 and 12 year olds?

You insulted the city of Roanoke, their girls teams AND VYS Soccer in one paragraph. You're crying about a car ride but I'm the sensitive one.
