I'm fairly certain that given the choice between an established trial attorney and a public defender from the prestigious DC public defense pool, the choice would be obvious. Of course DC does so many things well, like public schools, policing, snow removal, etc. It only makes sense that their public defenders are the very best?.

In my class at Harvard Law School, the best and the brightest of the "public interest" types went to the DC public defense service. I'm not one of them myself but I have a very high opinion of the caliber of their attorneys. It's a prestigious gig.

Hmm. I didn't hear of anyone in my class doing that.

Mine either. Top graduates all went into appellate clerkships/SCOTUS, top firms, or tenure track professorships at top schools.

The family's home has been in the process of being demolished over the past day+.

I completely understand the need to do such a thing. Sigh. But it's such a sad ending to such a heartbreaking and terrifying and devastating situation.

I hope the 2 daughters are OK.

It has been my experience that there is no justice. Each day is torture and when I hear about cases like this I feel like I'm reliving my experience. I can no longer watch the news.

It has been two years now since these vicious murders occurred. According to the article below, Daron Wint will go on trial in September. I thought it wasn't going to happen until 2018?

I never knew that lovely family, or their housekeeper, but I hope their loved ones see justice and hold memories of their loved ones in their hearts.

Any news?

Someone posted on another thread that they listened to a podcast about this case. I searched on the podcast app and nothing came up - anyone know about this?

Any news at all in this case? I drive by the house (well, now the lot) frequently and still just feel sick.

In some ways this reminds me of the home invasion in connecticut, where the dad was beaten nearly to death and tied up in the basement. The mother and two daughters died in the fire the rapists/murderers set. Both perpetrators were found guilty and at least one was sentenced to death.

Meanwhile, here, over two years later we still don't have basic answers to basic questions. I don't think anyone feels comfortable with only one person in jail - I can't imagine many people believe he acted alone.

I recently watched an HBO documentary on the Cheschire, CT murders and I too was so struck by the similarities. No way was this guy alone. And it’s so odd how people think setting the crime scene on fire will destroy all evidence (it didn’t in Cheshire or these DC murders or the family killed in Richmond 10 years ago).

I'm the one who mentioned the podcast. It was called The Mansion murders. I didn't learn anything new but I think there will be more episodes in ghetto future. It was about 25 minutes long.

I'm another person who thinks he definitely didn't do it alone, and it's disturbing that they haven't arrested anyone else.
