The actual reported votes are still in toss-up territory, but the final predictions are squarely in the Democrats' favor, because precincts still tallying votes are Democratic strongholds.

This is why you see such a big difference between CNN numbers (current vote tallies) and the NYT needle (final predictions), for instance.

I just switched to CNN. They are shockingly more pessimistic. I have been watching the NYT needle all night and feeling great but John King was acting like there aren’t enough votes out there for ossoff to catch up. I think/hope he’s wrong but it’s weird.

Ok, I thought I was losing it. That's what I'm getting as well!

I think it’s because CNN was told there were about 130,000 votes left to count in DeKalb county but the GA voting system manager is on now confirming there are actually 171,000 votes left to count in DeKalb county. CNN should be sounding more optimistic now.

No Donny. Unless we win by exactly 17,780 votes. Then you'll know we're f**kin witcha.

LOL! That’s funny.

Republicans continue to hold a narrow lead in the tabulated vote, but Democrats are increasingly clear favorites to win both races for Senate. Over the last hour, Republicans have failed to outperform expectations in relatively Republican areas, leaving them at the mercy of the overwhelmingly Democratic votes that remain in the Atlanta area. To prevail, the Republicans will have to outperform our expectations in these remaining votes by a significant margin, and in the case of Kelly Loeffler an implausible margin. They haven't outperformed our expectations much of anywhere.

You're an unseeemly vote dump.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

It’s over, guys. The only counties left to report significant votes are Democratic strongholds—especially DeKalb.

Then remember we have the mail-ins, which are strongly Democratic.

About 194K votes from Dekalb county is remaining.

Right, and that’s enough to do it.

So who is gonna win it?!?!

Yes, sterling confirmed it’s 171k. I agree with Trumper that CNN sucks

Yes, yes they are. Hallelujah!

Warnock will win; ossoff will be ahead but within the recount zone.

And recounts virtually never change anything, so it doesn’t matter!
