My takeaway from this (among other things):

I’m going to make sure my kids understand that it’s not a crime for them to be recorded in public.

I think the woman genuinely believed that being recorded in public by a stranger is somehow in and of itself illegal or assault or something.

You can be recorded in public. You can record police. Govern yourself accordingly.

Yes, these kinds of things happen to Black people in America regularly. Truth is, few White people believed the extent of our plight until phones w/ video capability came along (~2003). And even then, some try to contort that reality into something palatable for themselves (like some of the posters on this thread and on the "Jogger chased and shot" thread). So yes, as I said, these kinds of things regularly happen to Black people in America. Mr. Cooper is way fortunate that he didn't suffer the same fate as Mr. Floyd (which I believe was Amy's intention).

How do people think its ok for the man to set up the situation and try to take her dog from her? If that was a child and he offered the child candy, would that be ok? By his account, he was setting up the situation, being a bully and who knows what he was trying to do by trying to take the dog from her with dog treats. If that was a child, we'd call him a potential kidnapper. He set it up completely and if you look at his words, something is seriously off about the man. He was not bird watching and clearly has done this before or was out to take someone's dog as who carries treats around if you don't have a dog.

It's not like he came into her backyard or anything. They're in a public place where it's clearly required that she keep the dog on a leash. Maybe she should keep the dog on a leash? She'd have solved a lot of problems that way, wouldn't she have?
