“God didn’t mean that part of the Bible; I’m Christian, not Jewish! It’s the winky part of the Bible. I can take from it if I want to or not if it prevents me from getting my ears pierced or a sweet tattoo of my husband’s and my anniversary. We’re NT people, we’re all about love and kindness and stopping abortions and hating gays.” |
Given this drug is available via telemedicine, I hardly think this is true |
Ah yes. I believe those are called Leviticans (http://www.scalzi.com/whatever/002675.html).
To suggest that a Christian is actually a Levitican is not to say he or she is false in faith -- rather, it is to suggest that their faith is elsewhere in the Bible, in the parts that are easy to understand: The rules, the regulations, all the things that are clear cut about what you can do and what you can't do to be right with God. Rules are far easier to follow than Christ's actual path, which needs humility and sacrifice and the ability to forgive, love and cherish even those who you oppose and who oppose and hate you. Any idiot can follow rules; indeed, there's a good argument to made that idiots can only follow rules. |
Still going? The title of this thread did not age well. |
I am in favor of getting vaccinated, but is it possible that the surge in red states is partly due to people in hot, humid, climates staying indoors more? If the issue is purely lack of vaccination, shouldn’t black neighborhoods in blue cities with more temperate climates be getting hit hard as hard as the Trumpy white neighborhoods in the south? |
Not if they mask and if there are more masking mandates where they live in those "more temperate climates". I see lots of black people masking. They are not deniers of COVID . . . they are just afraid to get the vaccine. There's a difference. I actually see them being careful. They have seen the effects of COVID in the first go around. In Florida they go out of their way not to have mask mandates because freedumb. |
We have hot summers with AC and indoorsyness here in DC and in Virginia and we are not seeing this . . . |
We are seeing growth in Fairfax and are back to 4% positivity. |
That map shows Virginia being hit pretty hard. |
Florida is at 82 per 100,000 right now. Virginia is at 14 per 100,000. Fairfax county is at 8 per 100,000. Parts of Florida are up to 120 per 100,000. So no, Virginia is many times less than Florida right now. |
From my friend in Tennessee: “we’re calling those who refuse to get vaxxed spreadnecks.” |
I’ve seen that on Facebook a couple times. I first heard it from my friend who just moved home to rural TX and deals with these people daily |
Thanks for sharing numbers however this could partially mean that the Florida spiked started earlier than Fairfax spike. Do not assume that if you are vaccinated you are immune from catching Delta variant in DMV. Cases are still rising in our area. Mask up, avoid large indoor gatherings, etc even if vaccinated. If you feel sick get tested even if vaccinated. Hopefully the current surge in cases will be over/waining in a few weeks. |
