YES! And that is YOUR kids must score high enough to get in . Talent has nothing to do with race!!!!!!!!!! So sad, people who CANNOT GET IN are always so jealous. |
I don't blame any current generations for what happened 30 years ago. I do blame people fighining tooth and nail to avoid any change now. I think this just ends up with the school getting closed because the board will eventually get sick of constant litigation |
People have *repeatedly* pointed out that ends do not justify the means in any modern democracy. If that does not sink in from a constitutional perspective, let me give you something you can relate to. Even if you catch a murderer red-handed and dont follow due process like reading the Miranda rights, you will not get the conviction. There are many on this forum who are on board with increasing diversity at TJ but you have to do it the right way. |
What is the right way to increase diversity at TJ? |
You are absolutely wrong there. There are many who believe that reform is needed and diversity needs to be a focus at TJ. And any reform will likely result in fewer Asians. But what we see right now is a total us versus them animus on both sides. C4TJ has a scorched earth strategy (class of 2026 be damned) and the School Board is positioning the reform as the best thing that has happened since sliced bread. Reform is needed but the reform effort has to include participation from those that are impacted (which takes time and was near impossible with restrictions on in-person gatherings during the pandemic). We can continue down this path of Asians throwing shade at other races and other races throwing shade on Asians. Whichever way this case is decided, the societal impact will continue for years. Unless someone in leadership steps up. That is too much to ask of this partisan school board. |
By “the right way” I’m guessing you mean “without reducing the impact of parents who will do whatever it takes to get their kid to TJ”. |
AKA, being racist. |
More broadly, FCPS need to expell some Asians or perhaps force some Blacks to move in from PG county, so as to have a more proper racial balance. This is important. |
If the change is racism, I applaud the fight. |
There are enough ideas that have been thrown around including prior pages on this thread. A good place to start would be for the School Board to formally apologize for Braband's "pay to play" innuendos and reach out to the impacted communities (Asians as well as the school districts that have been impacted) and try to tap down the adversarial nature of the dialog. Most people (yes, Asians included) care for diversity and would listen. But all we see is liberal use of innuendos that Asians are cheats and resource hoarders. That does not create an environment where you get any moderate to collaborate. Solutions have been found for many more intractable problems. It needs leadership and we have none of that at FCPS. |
So the right way is to do nothing and pretend there is no problem? Oh, and listen, but only if it isn't accompanied by action. |
Define diversity - if you do it by skin color, you've already lost the argument. Prove that TJ is not diverse; again if you come up with a race chart, you've already lost. |
And attituteds like that are why the school is going to end up closed or as an academy |
Nah. FCPS cannot end governor's schools.
|
do you have any cite for that claim? |
