TJ's racist policy that your tax dollars is defending cut the Asian entry by half

“By half”? Guess you’re not so good with numbers? Recap of admission #s from 2024 to 2025: +64 overall +50 female +14 male +46 hispanic +242% +37 white +26% +29 black +245% +8 other/mixed +26% -56 asian -26% +142 from underrepresented MSs -36 private school |
How some of these folks expect their kids to get into TJ is beyond me. |
And despite that TJ is still over 50% Asian right? |
Yup. Headline: Group That Is Over-Represented Threefold Thinks It’s Racist That They’re No Longer Over-Represented Four-Fold |
+1 And something must be done about this! |
Keep going. This "racial balancing" motivation is what is being questioned by the court. You can have a great outcome but if the process to get there is not constitutional then it does not matter. But keep going. You guys dont care how unfair/unconstitutional a process is as long as it gets your goals. |
PP here, I was being sarcastic to point out the obvious end point suggested by the previous PP, because that line of thought is justification for racism. |
People have *repeatedly* pointed out that the approach sucked but the outcome is a step in the right direction. |
The FCPS Asian student population is double that of the Black student population. |
And historically, it is approximately 50-100 times the Black population at TJ. More Asian students were admitted to the Class of 2024 at TJ than there had been Black students at TJ in its entire history to that point. And TJ has existed as a sci-tech magnet for 35 years. |
You need to stop acting as though a different process that had the same result would have somehow been satisfactory to you. Any change in the process that had a reasonable chance of a steep decline in Asian students would have triggered the same outcry and the same development of a Coalition-style entity to keep Black kids out and maintain the ability of motivated parents to leverage their resources to make their kids look more worthy than they are. You just have a better chance of winning because this School Board can’t get out of its own way. |
NP. The outcome has to be lawfully arrive at. That's the point. |
That's a travesty but do you blame Asians? FCPS is to blame for their poor teaching, and they wanted a quick fix at the expense of Asian families. |
nope. |
