DP. Properly funding the IRS, speaking as a tax-paying citizen, is a good thing. I pay my share of taxes. Those who don't shouldn't get to skate by. Do you really think they should? |

Steve Guest works for Ted Cruz. I suspect his take isn’t based in fact or understanding.
(We all know he’s arguing in 100% bad faith). |
We don't need another 82,000 agents to monitor our banking and our returns. I pay my share as well. As do most Americans. What I don't think is necessary is for my bank to report the transactions I have in order for the IRS to scrutinize my income and spending. It is absolutely overreach and not appropriate. I am also adamantly opposed to amnesty for illegals. More of an incentive for more to come. |
He isn't making this claim. He is simply tweeting a piece in The Hill. Do you disagree this is happening? |
The “piece in The Hill” is written by Sens. Ted Cruz and Rick Scott and it’s bullshit. Medicaid expansion keeps rural hospitals open. |
What is this republican obsession over "growing government?" America has an ever increasing population, and an ever more complex set of issues that need oversight, whether banking and finance, technology, industry, et cetera. Government needs to keep pace with all of it. Sorry but this is not 1783 when times were much simpler. Stop making foolish comments about "OMG YOU WANT TO GROW GOVERNMENT." Sorry, we can't go back to 1783. What worked then cannot work now. To do so would make us a dysfunctional third world nation. It's just foolish magical thinking. |
+1 It’s the point that if a right wing douche canoe like Cruz, or the people deranged enough to work for and support him, retweets something you know it’s a bullsnit, bad-faith argument. The GOP is still trying to kill the government. Why? Because it works, because all the GOP propaganda against the government has just been an astroturfed lie. The billionaire funders of the GOP hate government because it’s one of the few things that actually imposes limits and requires them to act like they live on this planet. |
Government is WAAAYYY too big to begin with. It doesn't need to grow any more. They cannot be all things to all people. https://www.brookings.edu/blog/fixgov/2020/10/07/the-true-size-of-government-is-nearing-a-record-high/ |
Just stop with your partisan crap.

I agree, we should slash subsidies to factory farms, cut the defense budget- then we could increase social services AND decrease the total budget. |
Sure. Let's decrease the defense budget with what is going on in the world. That'll show China, Russia, N Korea, and Iran. Let's take a look at some of the departments that should not be part of the federal govt. Starting with the Dept. of Ed. And, while we are at it. Let's look at our intelligence agencies and see how to revamp those since they don't seem to be doing the jobs they are designed for. |
No. Those 12 states made their decision not to expand care. That’s on them; they made their partisan decision knowing it would hurt their citizens. Now they’re just mad it will hurt their pocketbooks. You may have the delusion that Ted Cruz and notoriously charitable hospital groups care about patients, but I will not share that delusion. Ted Cruz and his dumb staffers can sit on a tack. I hope Build Back Better passes. |
