Agree. I can understand a system that is built upon scrimmaging and friendlies and no league, but it has to be built over time. You get a working model with U8's and tinker with that. Then when it works you move it to U9's, then later U10's. Then when you have a proven model with all the bugs worked out you can take it to U12. You don't start your experiment with U12. |
Are you referring to the YDL for PWSI? I was just looking at their schedule and it looks like they moved all their teams to the NCSL. Is YDL no more? |
I think BRYC's model will sink in but there will be early turnover, hence my "early drama" comment. Some parents will buy in and some will leave but eventually BRYC will settle in. They are to good a club not to. |
thirteen 15U spots still open for tomorrow's WS ID session
rationalize all u want |
CYA moved their U9 teams to NCSL this spring too. They were part of the YDL. |
Looks like most of clubs in YDL are now in NCSL. So the exiting of a league didn't seem to work for long. |
You have no idea how many call backs Spirit have sent out or how many thanks but no thanks emails they have also sent. This also doesn't dictate how many roster spots are available. |
What with all the haters, I'm tempted to run down the street and watch these tryouts tonight just to see if a fight breaks out or there are people picketing! |

I was with PWSI when they went through their experimentation of only YDL as the league for U10. It sucked! The kids knew it. Elven of their parents hadn't told them. The scrimmages were often lopsided and because you technically didn't need player cads the coaches or directors would invite other players from the same club to "guest" play in a game. I am no longer with PWSI. In retrospect, I think it would the perfect complimentary league. So while I was at PWSI their Fall was all YDL, then enough parents complained that they decided to enroll two teams in NCSL, the rest would still do YDL as their main league. Although at U10 the scores aren't kept anyway, it for some reason that I truly can't pinpoint, the boys tried harder to win during the NCSL season. I think this year all the clubs understood they were doing a bait and switch on the parents by telling them they were paying for select travel. I'm sure the clubs had good intentions. It just didn't work out as it was planned for on paper. |
Great share. Thank you. Curious to see how the clubs shake out for next season. |
I'll bet you however much you want that if you go over to South Lakes tonight for the Spirit tryouts, you won't see one decent player. Of course, the tryouts are scheduled for tomorrow but you're too clueless to know that. |
Not clueless, just don't need to worry about it -- because my kids are all set for next year. |
