Good point. Randall and Kevin did well, but Randall has bills and 3 children and campaigns cost money, even local ones. I am not sure what Kate does that she can fly across country last minute for a road trip to find their uncle.

I wonder if they got a large life insurance pay out after Jack’s death and don’t really need to work. They never appeared struggling financially, even in the flash back episodes to their 20s.

I agree, but I could see it happening. You go to college, 100% focus on studies, losing her dad, and she let go of her childhood. Then you get married, raise kids, have a career. There isn't much time for such a time consuming hobby

I do think it's weird neither of her girls are in dance or anything

I agree, I had zero emotional reaction to it. Beth's parents seemed already elderly during her child years. Her mother kept referring to these mystery older brothers and sisters who we never saw and Beth has never mentioned or had a relationship with otherwise (unless I'm forgetting things.)

Perhaps part of what bothered me is that as a former professional dancer, tv shows wanting to portray the ballet world can never seem to get it right. None of the girls they had dancing in Bethany's childhood classes had the skill to make it anywhere near professional level. The adult Beth actress didn't look like she'd done a plie in her life before during her Flashdance moment. I get that this is fiction and we can use our imagination and suspend reality, but can't NBC afford to hire real dancers for their episodes??

I also thought it was weird that she was doing modern dance when she basically had been trained in ballet all her life. Yes, I guess she could just be "letting go" and doing her own thing, but if was so classically trained, I would think that would be what she would show in her "Flashdance moment". Love that analogy BTW.

I think Beth mentioned her sister Renee in a previous season. I don't know why, but I remember it.

So true! The cut aways to hide her dancing were so distracting. At least they could have done a CGI face swap like Black Swan with the body of an actual dancer. I did like that they took the effort to add the little eye spot on teen Beth, which adult Beth also has. But why was Howard University so white? A HBUC would have way more Bs.

That wasn't Howard. It was Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh. Didn't you see the red sign near the name tag table?

Ah ok I missed that sign. I was still in the time jump when he wanted to go to Howard, and Beth was from DC

Toby made his money in IT. He funded the start up of his first wife’s business, and then she left him.
