Congrats to the kid. Great school in a great conference. I was always a bit surprised that more kids in the area didn’t seek to play D3 at the “academic” schools. Yeah, no $, but the help in getting admitted to elite schools like Midd is priceless.

It’s a puzzle as to why more kids (athletes or not) from the DMV don’t look at the NESCACs. In NOVA, part of the challenge may be getting parents to look to spend 70 grand/year when UVA, WM and Tech cost less than 1/2 that.

Your average Joe will only have a blank stare when you mention any NESCAC school. It just does not compute.

VLC is at a crossroads. Is it a club that gets private school and close in DC kids into Hopkins and Yale and Middlebury. Or an exburb club that gets kids into CNU, Lynchburg and VMI. With PVI going west, I say the latter. Cab breathes a sigh of relief. Cavs and Evergreen have their sphincter all rolled up. Such as is the club and scene on the dmv.

Not sure I follow - where there are a few PVI players on a number VLC teams, many have gone to D1 schools - 20s (Duke), 18s (PSU, OSU), 17s (UMD, Army). And there are Loudoun area players playing for PSU, Richmond while beltway area players play for high level D3 teams as well. Madlax 20s have kids going to Williams, Middlebury, Tufts, Lynchburg, Stevenson (2) - w PVI player going to BU. Madlax 20 does have 3 kids from NC and 1 from DE committed - they don't seem to be geographically limited so I don't know why VLC would be either, even with PVI moving 12 miles west.

VLC is different than it was 5 years ago when my son played. Back then, there were lots of private school in addition to PVI kids, from places like Landon and Zaga and Prep. Not so much anymore. Looking at the college commit lists, the majority seem to be from Loudoun schools. Lots more kids deciding to stay on their side of the river and play for DCE and NL. The move of PVI westward is a good thing for VLC. It's westward where they will find fertile ground to grow the program once again.

Good point - more options for kids today than in the past.

All the best kids in NOVA now try to make DCE first. Then settle for ML. VLC third....

Geez, everyone has an opinion and fortunately there are more choices for kids in the DMV. But summer tryout schedules start with Madlax, then Next Level/VLC then finally DCE (and arguably most of their HS teams have been selected in advance) MD has a higher concentration of private schools and with it comes holdback players, which is clear as day when underclass HS kids drive themselves to practice. Hopefully kids and parents will find the club that's right for them.

Terrible “bang for the buck” at NESCACs.

If you go to a NESCAC you really need to be planning to go to grad school if you want to end up with a decent job. Any big VA public is a safer bet for future employment.

Try this: do a search on Linked In using “lacrosse” and any NESCAC school such as “Williams” or “Middlebury” or “Wesleyan.” I suspect you will see a pretty impressive list of employers and grad schools in the individual profiles.

You can get the same jobs and grad schools, and spend much less on undergrad, by attending WM, VT, UVA.

After 42 pages of “feedback on VLC” lacrosse the summary is check linked in profiles at Tufts and UVA? That is some forward thinking. How about the club itself? How is the lacrosse?

While we are at in, anyone have a good recipe for queso? I mean the recent posts seem to be as relevant.
